Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man’ Era Could Be Coming to an End
For decades, Peter Parker has been Marvel’s definitive Spider-Man. But in recent years, another web-slinger has steadily emerged as one of the publisher’s biggest stars.
Miles Morales first appeared in 2011’s Ultimate Comics: Fallout #4. The character quickly developed a passionate following of his own and has since become a fixture across comics, animation, and gaming.

The character’s popularity exploded thanks to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), where he is voiced by Shameik Moore, while gamers have followed his journey throughout Insomniac’s video game trilogy, Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018), Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020), and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (2023).
In almost every incarnation, Miles’ story involves guidance from an older Peter Parker. Now, Tom Holland hopes the Marvel Cinematic Universe will eventually explore a similar dynamic.

Holland returns as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026), directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Justin Kuritzkes.
The film follows the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), which ended with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) erasing Peter Parker from the memories of everyone around him, forcing the hero to start over entirely on his own. Watch the trailer for the film below:

Tom Holland Wants Miles Morales’ Spider-Man in the MCU
Although Holland has previously insisted that he intends to continue playing Spider-Man for many years to come, he has also spoken openly about wanting to eventually pass the torch.
Speaking recently with Hobby Consolas (via IGN), the actor discussed his hopes for the franchise’s future and specifically mentioned Miles Morales, saying:
“I think at this point in time, we’re being really open-minded about what the future looks like. I know that I have aspirations to bring Miles Morales into the universe, however that works out. You know, we’ve got a lot of work to do to bring that to life.”
Miles has not officially appeared in the MCU yet, though there have been hints.
For now, however, Marvel’s attention remains firmly on Peter Parker and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
It stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Tramell Tillman as Bill Metzger, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, and Sadie Sink in an undisclosed role.
Miles Morales will return in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is scheduled for release on June 18, 2027.
