Marvel Maps Live-Action Miles Morales Ahead of Tom Holland’s Next ‘Spider-Man’ Chapter

Marvel has spent years building Tom Holland’s Spider-Man into one of the MCU’s biggest heroes, but now the studio appears ready to take Peter Parker somewhere completely different.

That new direction could eventually lead to Miles Morales finally joining the live-action universe.

For years, fans wondered how Marvel could introduce Miles without making Peter Parker feel overshadowed or too inexperienced. Now, after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), Marvel suddenly has the perfect opportunity to make the transition feel believable.

Peter Parker has lost nearly everything. That darker setup may become the key to Spider-Man’s future.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Pushes Spider-Man Into a New Phase

Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives July 31, and early details already make it clear this movie will feel very different from Holland’s earlier appearances.

Peter no longer has access to the support system that once surrounded him. His friends no longer remember him, the Avengers are absent from his daily life, and Spider-Man has become his entire focus.

Marvel reportedly plans to pit Peter against villains including Tombstone, Scorpion, and The Hand. The movie appears much more grounded and street-focused than previous MCU Spider-Man stories.

The cast rumors have also fueled major excitement.

Sadie Sink’s role continues to dominate online fan discussions, especially after many viewers became convinced she could be secretly playing Jean Grey. Marvel has not officially revealed who she plays, but speculation continues to grow.

The movie may also include several familiar Marvel characters. Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner reportedly appears, and rumors suggest audiences may finally see Savage Hulk during a Spider-Man battle. Punisher is also expected to enter the story.

All of this makes Brand New Day feel like the start of a larger rebuilding process for Spider-Man inside the MCU.

Peter Parker Finally Feels Ready To Mentor Miles

One of the biggest reasons Miles Morales works so well in other Spider-Man stories is that Peter Parker usually serves as an experienced mentor figure.

That version of Peter did not really exist in the MCU before now.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man started as an inexperienced teenager still learning how to become a hero. But after No Way Home, Peter has evolved into a much more mature and isolated character.

Marvel’s setup for Brand New Day makes it clear that Peter has spent years operating completely on his own. That kind of experience changes him into someone who could realistically guide another young hero.

Kevin Feige has also spoken about wanting Holland to become a more traditional version of Spider-Man moving forward. Instead of relying on advanced technology and superhero teams, Peter now survives through instinct and experience.

That evolution creates the ideal setup for Miles Morales.

Marvel Already Knows This Formula Works

The relationship between Peter and Miles has already succeeded massively through Insomniac’s Spider-Man games.

The 2018 PlayStation game introduced an older Peter Parker who had protected New York for years before Miles Morales entered the picture. Fans immediately connected with the dynamic between the experienced Peter and the younger Miles.

Sony later expanded Miles into his own standalone game in 2020 before giving him a major role in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (2023).

By the end of that story, Peter steps away while Miles takes over as New York’s primary Spider-Man. Fans praised that transition because it felt natural and earned.

Marvel Studios could easily follow a similar path with Holland’s Spider-Man in the years ahead.

Fans Still Have a Long Wait Ahead

Despite all the setup, Miles Morales probably will not appear in the MCU anytime soon.

Sony still plans to release Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse on June 18, 2027, and Marvel reportedly cannot fully move forward with Miles in live-action until the animated franchise wraps up.

Sony also controls the live-action rights to Miles Morales, meaning Marvel would need another agreement similar to the current Spider-Man partnership involving Tom Holland.

Reports suggest that Sony also explored developing its own live-action Miles Morales project, which could complicate negotiations.

Still, Marvel finally appears to be building toward Miles Morales the right way instead of rushing him into the story. Peter Parker now feels experienced enough to mentor another Spider-Man, and that may ultimately become the most important step in bringing Miles to the MCU.
