There’s a BIG Change Coming to Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade

Magic Kingdom’s Festival of Fantasy parade returned just a few months ago. Iis so wonderful to see Maleficent breathing fire down Main Street once again, not to mention the smiling Princesses and dancing characters! The parade celebrates all that people love about Disney, from inventive floats that derelict favorite movie scenes to amazing dancing, this parade truly is the whole package! The music, the colors ….we just love this parade so much!

Twice a day,  once at noon and then again at 3:00pm this parade livens up Frontierland and Main Street USA. It has always been a “can’t miss” parade in our book! It feels like we only just got it back (in truth we did just get it back) and it’s already about to change. Beginning October 9 the parade will go from two showings per day to just one.

The noon showing of Festival of Fantasy will go away and instead be replaced by an additional showing of Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade. This cavalcade was created just for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration and features Mickey and his best pals all dressed up in their ‘EARidecent’ best! You can currently catch this short but super fun cavalcade at 10:45 am, 1:40 pm, 4:25 pm and 5:55 pm.

There is no word yet on whether this change is permanent or not but since Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration ends next March, we assume the cavalcade will as well. Whether Festival of Fantasy resumes two showings it not remains to be seen but we doubt it.

The parade traditionally was only shown once per day (at 3:00 pm) so rather than a replacement, this is really just a return to how things were. We will miss having two opportunities to see this fantastic parade though. It was nice to not have to stake out a spot so early with everyone trying to see it at the same time. Pro-tip: watch from Frontierland for the fewest crowds!

About Jill Bivins

Jill Bivins has been visiting Disney Parks since she was 2 years old and loves sharing her Disney adventures with the world. She likes to say Disney is in her blood and writing is in her bones — so any time she has the opportunity to combine these loves she is one happy camper! She has a deep abiding love for Epcot and as a die hard Star Wars fan has a serious love for Hollywood Studios as well. When she isn't exploring or writing about Disney Parks, Jill is homeschooling her 8 year old son, playing with her brand new baby son, or pretending to be a farmer on her family homestead (despite being unable to keep even a cactus alive).
