Star Tours is Disney’s OG Star Wars ride and while it’s undergone plenty of additions over the years (and will likely undergo many more), one thing remains constant: no two rides are the same.
First introduced in 2011 as an update to the original Star Tours, this immersive Disney attraction takes guests on a 3D motion-simulated journey across iconic Star Wars planets. With its randomized storytelling system, it has the ultimate re-rideability factor, ensuring the attraction is a classic for years to come.
The ride’s ever-changing narrative is built on a mix of interchangeable sequences, combining various destinations, characters, and scenarios. Riders may encounter Darth Vader, Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaacs), or Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), visit planets like Naboo, Jakku, or Exegol, and even participate in the battle for the Death Star.
While fans have speculated endlessly about the ride’s possible combinations, opinions vary widely. Some say there are over 50 options, others claim as many as 2,000, depending on scene variations.
Whether you’re dodging ships, exploring the oceans of Naboo, or receiving a message from Finn (John Boyega), Star Tours – The Adventures Continue turns every ride into a personal adventure within the Star Wars universe. The exact count may remain unclear, but the options are definitely worth exploring.
Variant 1: Ride Opening
Poor C-3PO can hardly finish his maintenance work before your speeder is hijacked. One constant: your hijacker always changes.
Darth Vader
Darth Vader and stormtroopers demand the Rebel spy aboard the StarSpeeder, but R2-D2 takes action. Using The Force, Vader halts the ship until R2 fires, forcing him to block with his lightsaber. The StarSpeeder escapes into hyperspace.
Kylo Ren
If Kylo Ren is your villain, expect a similar sequence to the Vader scenario. Except it’s Kylo Ren, of course. (No Adam Driver cameo, though).
Droids and Stormtroopers
The third opening option is arguably the dullest. A droid attaches to the StarSpeeder’s screen while stormtroopers search for a Rebel spy. The Millennium Falcon attempts to escape as the Star Tours ship follows, jumping into hyperspace.
Variations include Rey or Han Solo piloting the Falcon, with the stormtroopers changing accordingly. The latest version swaps the Falcon for Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle.
Variant 2: First Destination
After hyperspace travel, your journey could take you to any number of planets from the prequels, original, or sequel trilogies.
Hoth
If you land on the ice planet from The Empire Strikes Back (1980), your Star Tours ship gets caught in a battle between the Empire and the Rebellion. You’ll weave through Imperial AT-ATs before escaping just in time.
Kashyyk
The Wookiee homeworld gets little screentime in the films, making a visit to Kashyyk a real treat.
Expect a high-speed chase between stormtroopers and Wookiees, culminating in Chewbacca crashing into the screen, leaving a trail as you soar through the treetops.
Kef Bir
Though the Kef Bir sequence from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) might not make much sense, it’s still a cool addition. Ride through massive waves, dodging the remains of the second Death Star, before encountering a dianoga (a kind of space cephalopod) and heading back to space.
Jakku
If Jakku is your destination, you’ll chase the Millennium Falcon, piloted by either Rey or Finn, as they flee from First Order TIE fighters. After entering a derelict Star Destroyer, the Falcon accidentally shoots the StarSpeeder, sending it crash-landing before escaping into space.
Tattooine
Your final option is landing on Tatooine, where you get thrust into a pod race. C-3PO somehow wins the race, and you rocket back into space, nearly hitting the crowd in the process.
Variant 3: An Urgent Message
As the StarSpeeder enters space, it receives a message asking for help transporting the Rebel Spy to a secret location.
The message stays the same, but the speaker changes. You could hear from characters like Admiral Ackbar, Princess Leia, Yoda, Maz Kanata, Poe Dameron, BB-8, Lando Calrissian, Ahsoka Tano, Cassian Andor, or even The Mandalorian with Grogu.
Second Destination
Next, you’ll visit a second destination—completely different from the first round of planets.
Coruscant
Coruscant, home to the Senate and iconic characters like Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman) and Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) in Revenge of the Sith (2005), features a flight over the city planet, dodging traffic. You either land at a StarSpeeder hangar or on the Millennium Falcon.
Naboo
Naboo plunges you into a chaotic battle before diving into the ocean. After narrowly avoiding sea creatures, you race toward the hangar for another bumpy landing, either crashing into an N1 Starfighter or its nose, cracking the screen.
Crait
The controversial ending of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) makes for a visually stunning ride. Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaacs) guides you through an attack on the First Order and out of the fire.
Geonosis
In this thrilling option, your ship orbits Geonosis while Jango Fett launches an attack to eliminate the spy. (Of course, the attack fails, and everyone survives).
Exegol
If you end up on Exegol, join the battle as Resistance fighters face off against Palpatine’s forces. The experience is enhanced with a dramatic John Williams score.
Seatol
A recent addition to the ride, Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) guides you through Seatos, home to the peaceful Purgill space whales. It’s a tranquil finale, though less thrilling than other options.
Variant 4: Endings
Spaceport THX1138
One possible ending brings you back to Spaceport THX1138, where C-3PO is still trying to finish his work. The ride ends without the interference of Darth Vader or Kylo Ren—though you may anger a few other droids with a crash landing.
Batuu
The final option lands you in Batuu, AKA Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. You won’t see tourists, but you will spot familiar sights, including Black Spire Outpost and the village.
