Spending Valentine’s Day 2021 at Walt Disney World: Our Recommendations

Credit: Disney

It is the most romantic time of year and why not spend it in the most magical place- Walt Disney World.  Although many associate Disney with kids, there is so much for adults to do together as well.  We have suggestions for spending Valentine’s Day at Walt Disney World.

1. Dining

One of the top things to do on Valentine’s Day is to enjoy a special meal together.  Don’t be fooled by thinking Disney is only fast food.  Many restaurants throughout property have world renowned chefs making it some of the best dining experiences you will have. If you are looking for a fantastic meal with a view, consider dining in the evening at California Grill in Disney’s Contemporary Resort.  This dining option is high end with an extensive wine collection as well as great meals from steak to sushi.  The views are some of the best in Walt Disney World.  You can see the Magic Kingdom in all its magic from high up. Other fantastic dining options can be found at Disney’s Springs.  Here you can find a variety of different high-end dining from Boathouse to Morimoto Asia.  These and many more dining options provide an adult like atmosphere with great views of Disney Springs and menus that offer excellent cuisine.

2. Lounges

Another great thing to do on Valentine’s Day is to hit up some of the lounges throughout Walt Disney World.  Although not all are opened currently, there are many throughout the parks and resorts that offer amazing drink selection, a fun and relaxing atmosphere and good small bites.  Consider taking the skyliner over to the Riviera or hit up Baseline Tap House or Oga’s Cantina in Hollywood Studios or La Cava del Tequila in Epcot.  These amazingly themed lounges are perfect for a Valentine’s Day mid-day drink.

3. Mini Golf

If you want a little friendly competition during your Valentine’s Day, consider heading to one of Disney’s miniature golf courses.  Currently Disney’s Winter Summerland is the only one of the two that are open, but always make sure to check while visiting on availability and times.  These outstanding themed mini golf courses are a great way to get away from the crowds of the parks, but still be immersed in the Disney magic.

4. Take a Walk

So often in Disney we are running from place to place.  During Valentine’s Day, consider slowing down and taking in the sights and sounds of the parks.  In Animal Kingdom, take time to stroll the trails around the Tree of Life, in Epcot walk through the pavilions in the World Showcase and really take in the details of the countries.  At your resort, consider taking a walk around the resort grounds to see the different parts of the resort that you might not normally see when rushing from park to park.  This is a great way to just enjoy your loved one on Valentine’s Day.

5. Enjoy Festival of the Arts

When spending Valentine’s Day in Walt Disney World, consider spending some of the day at the Festival of the Arts in Epcot.  This festival that focuses on all the arts is a fantastic way to enjoy new food, drinks, art and music together.  Listen to the Voices of Liberty at the American Gardens Theatre, try to eat at one of the unique food booths or stroll the chalk art throughout the park.  Look for Figment in historical paintings or favorite Disney characters in chalk art throughout the countries.  These are great ways to slow down and enjoy your time together.

6. Enjoy A Resort

For something outside of the parks, think about heading to some of the resorts to visit.  You can schedule a meal at one of the many resorts and enjoy walking around and seeing the sites- and maybe evening plan your next trip.  Enjoy a hammock at Caribbean Beach Resort, try a drink at Three Bridges at Coronado Springs or ride the monorail to the Grand Floridian.  The Disney resorts are stunning and offer so much that spending some time enjoying this together is a great way to spend Valentine’s Day.

7. Ride Those Rides

We would be remiss not to mention riding rides on Valentine’s Day.  Hold hands and scream together as you soar through space, fly through the wild west or drop into the twilight zone.  No matter which rides are your favorite, riding them together on this special holiday is an excellent way to celebrate.

8. Enjoy Each Other

Finally, take time to just enjoy one another on Valentine’s Day.  Hold hands as you walk down Main Street USA, find a bench in Batuu and relax and you people watch, listen to the sounds of the magic together.  Disney was built on love and you can definitely feel that when you slow down and take it all in.

Valentine’s Day in Walt Disney World will be a fantastic way to celebrate with your special someone.  We hope these ideas help you when deciding what you want to do in Walt Disney World for Valentine’s Day this year.

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations.
