La Cava del Tequila: Margaritas, Atmosphere, & More

EPCOT is home to some of the most popular and unique dining and lounge locations at the Walt Disney World Resort thanks to the World Showcase and its eleven different pavilions which each highlight a country from around the world. Each pavilion immerses Guests in that country’s culture and history through a multitude of experiences, including plenty of dining opportunities.

Mexico Pavilion

The Mexico Pavilion is beloved by Guests as it brings the charm and romance of the country to life through several dining options, beautiful architecture, an ancient pyramid, an attraction starring the Three Caballeros, and a small-town courtyard where Guests can shop for specialty items at dusk. Just steps from the marketplace is La Cava del Tequila, a unique lounge location where Guests can enjoy endless options of tequila in a cozy and intimate setting.

La Cava del Tequila is very small in size, which adds to its overall charm and ambiance, and Guests typically have the option of waiting for a table or seating or opting to wait for the bar to grab a beverage to go. While the to-go options are wonderful and convenient, it is the décor and atmosphere of La Cava del Tequila that makes it so incredible, so it is definitely worth waiting for a table.

Once inside, Guests can soak in the wonderful charm of La Cava del Tequila, beginning with the stunning bar. Featuring exposed brick arches, decoratively lit shelves displaying various tequilas, large hanging pendant lights with vibrant orange splashes, and an intricate wood design on the front, the bar features incredible details that help to set the tone for the rest of the lounge area.

Turning from the bar, Guests will notice just how small La Cava del Tequila is, as there are only a handful of tables in the small room, adding to the cozy vibes. There are about a half dozen tables where Guests can enjoy chair and booth seating, as well as a standing table for larger parties and a cozy nook with a couch and several stools for seating.

The entire seating area at La Cava del Tequila features many details that come together including a traditional tiled floor, yellow textured walls hanging geometric pendant lights, small paintings and portraits on the wall, and one long wall that features a mural that depicts the process of making tequila including harvesting the agave from plants. All together, it makes for a very intimate and welcoming atmosphere that makes Guests feel as though they are a world away from the bustling walkways of World Showcase.

Once settled inside, Guests can truly enjoy all that La Cava del Tequila has to offer with a menu featuring over two hundred different variations of tequila that can be enjoyed alone, in flights, or inventive margaritas that feature all sorts of flavors and ingredients. With so many options, it can be overwhelming when ordering, but the Cast Members who work at La Cava del Tequila are extremely knowledgeable and will help Guests to decide just which drink option is the best choice for them.

Guests who are looking to enjoy a spirit by itself have variations to choose from including Tequila Blanco, Tequila Resposado, Mezcal, Tequila Anejo, Sotol, Bacanora, and more. The most indulgent and extravagant way to enjoy several different tequilas is with the Supreme Tequila Flight, which offers up a generous amount of small pours, allowing Guests to sample many different flavors and varieties in one serving.

Margaritas are the most popular menu options at La Cava del Tequila, and one of the most beloved options for Guests is the La Cava Avocado which combines Tromba Blanco tequila, melon liqueur, avocado, and fresh lime juice and serves it frozen with a hibiscus salt rim. It’s the perfect combination of creamy avocado and tart lime, and its vibrant green color makes it a great beverage to take photos with throughout the Mexico Pavilion!

La Cava del Tequila also features some fruity margarita options for Guests who prefer a more fruit-based beverage, including the Pina Loca which blends ginger pineapple juice, mezcal, Ancho Reyes Chile Liquor, and a black ant salt rim for a smoky, sweet, and spicy combination that is unforgettable. Also available is the Blood Orange Margarita which has a rich depth of flavor from a combination of Blanco tequila, orange liqueur, blood orange juice, rum vanilla, and Tajin chili-lime rim.

Guests who are looking for some serious heat will love the El Diablo Margarita from La Cava del Tequila as it blends Blanco tequila with lime juice, agave, cucumber-jalapeno juice, and a hibiscus salt rim. The beverage packs some serious heat, but also offers up a cooling effect from the cucumbers and lime juice, making it well-balanced and delicious.

Some inventive margarita options at La Cava del Tequila include The Wild One, which is a unique blend of Blanco tequila, mango-passion fruit purée, Ancho Verde Chile Liqueur, lime juice, applejack, ginger cordial, and black salt. The El Negroni is an updated take on a traditional Negroni with the addition of mezcal and Ancho Reyes Liquor.

The final margarita option is a classic take on a traditional margarita that highlights a top-shelf tequila. The Dragones Top Shelf Margarita features Casa Dragones Blanco tequila, La Favorite Orange Liqueur, agave nectar, fresh lime juice, and a black ant salt rim served on the rocks for an upscale twist on a classic that Guests will find good to the very last sip.

La Cava del Tequila is obviously well known for its tequila and margarita options, but there are also several other beverage options for Guests who are looking for something a little bit different. In addition to non-alcoholic options like soft drinks, Guests can also order Mexican Sangria with a red wine base, Dos Equis beer, and a Mexican Michelada which combines draft beer, tomato, orange, and lime juices, Worcestershire, and soy sauce for a different take on a Bloody Mary.

With all of the delicious beverage options on the menu at La Cava del Tequila, Guests also need to ensure that they order up some food to prevent the alcohol hitting them a little too strongly. There are typically seasonal options that come and go every few months, but Guests can always order up salsa, guacamole, and queso either individually or as a trio, all served with fresh tortilla chips for dipping.
