Netflix has confirmed the much-anticipated release dates for two fan-favorite shows, Stranger Things and Wednesday. Both are now set to return in 2025, following substantial production cancellations due to the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA labor strikes.

These two critically acclaimed and immensely popular series are expected to be pivotal in Netflix’s strategy for maintaining its leadership among streaming services as it contends with competition from Disney+, Hulu, Max, and Paramount+.

In celebration of “Stranger Things Day” on November 6, Netflix provided a glimpse into the final season of Stranger Things via Variety. The event marked the anniversary of Will Byers’ disappearance into the eerie Upside Down on the same day in 1983, a moment that sparked the show’s supernatural saga.

Netflix released a video revealing the titles for the final eight episodes, which will wrap up the Hawkins storyline that has captivated fans worldwide. These titles, which include “The Crawl,” “The Vanishing of…,” “The Turnbow Trap,” “Sorcerer,” “Shock Jock,” “Escape From Camazotz,” “The Bridge,” and “The Rightside Up” hint at the climactic journey that awaits the show’s heroes. The season’s final episode title, “The Rightside Up,” directly nods to the series’ first-season finale, “The Upside Down,” creating a full-circle moment for the beloved series.

Stranger Things Season 5 will see familiar characters like Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Will (Noah Schnapp), and Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) grappling with the expanding threat of the Upside Down and its ominous villain Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).

As always, fan favorites such as Winona Ryder’s Joyce Byers, David Harbour’s Jim Hopper, and Sadie Sink’s Max Mayfield will be back in the battle for Hawkins. This final showdown promises to be a massive spectacle as Stranger Things prepares to go out with a supernatural bang that honors its roots and long-time fans.

Tim Burton’s Wednesday, which quickly set records as Netflix’s most-watched English-language show in its first week, will return for its second season in 2025. Led by Jenna Ortega as the iconic Wednesday Addams, the show revitalized the Addams Family mythos, creating a captivating new chapter centered around Wednesday’s dark and witty adventures at Nevermore Academy.

Season 2 will introduce a lineup of notable guest stars, including Joanna Lumley, Haley Joel Osment, Christopher Lloyd, and Thandiwe Newton, adding even more allure to Burton’s gothic universe.

The first season of Wednesday not only catapulted Jenna Ortega into stardom but also solidified the show as a cultural phenomenon. With Burton’s distinctive style and Ortega’s portrayal of the character, Wednesday captured audiences, blending mystery, supernatural intrigue, and dark humor.

Fans can expect season two to deliver longer, movie-like episodes, similar to what Stranger Things pioneered, ensuring a binge-worthy experience. As Netflix continues to elevate its production value, shows like Wednesday represent a new standard for streaming series, where each season unfolds like a cinematic event.

Looking ahead to 2025, Netflix has packed its lineup with blockbuster releases and new projects from established creators. As stated in the platform’s third-quarter earnings report, “So looking into 2025, you’ve got new seasons of our biggest shows: Wednesday, Squid Games, Stranger Things, on top of new shows from Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy, a new Knives Out film from Rian Johnson, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, even the return of Happy Gilmore.”

With an audience base exceeding 280 million subscribers, Netflix remains the world’s most subscribed streaming service, leading the way with iconic, fan-fueled franchises. The 2025 premieres of Stranger Things, Wednesday, and other highly anticipated titles should reinforce Netflix’s standing as the industry’s top content provider.
