Earlier this week, Pixar Animation Studio released their new trailer for their upcoming film, Elemental. The film, which is coming to theaters on June 16, has been in the world for quite a while. The heads at Disney and Pixar were hoping and expecting this movie to be a smash hit among fans. Unfortunately, they were completely wrong.
Since its release, the trailer has gotten ripped apart by people on the internet. Elemental is getting lots of attention in a very negative way.
The ‘Elemental’ Trailer is a Flop for Fans
Over the years, Pixar Animation Studios has been responsible for some of the most beloved Disney movies. They are known for their incredible original stories and for being trailblazers in the world of Animation. Ever since their hit movie Toy Story rocked the world, Pixar has been one of the leaders of the industry. Eventually, Pixar and Walt Disney Studios struck a historic deal, sealing their future as a powerful unit.
Pixar Animation Studios has consistently produced incredible films. This is the main reason why fans are shocked and let down at the Elemental trailer. For a studio that excels in original stories, this movie feels redundant to many fans.
After the release of the new trailer, fans sounded off on social media to criticize the film. The consensus among many fans is that the movie looks “…generic and played out.”

Why Do Fans Despise ‘Elemental’
There are plenty of reasons that fans are skipping out on this film. For one, the story seems to be one that we commonly see. User @lancestein936 explained their frustration, saying
“It’s always what if “insert noun” had feelings with Pixar. Started with toys, then monsters, then fish, on an on and now we have made it to “what if elements had feelings?” It’s rinse and repeat and I’m willing to bet any money it’s nominated for best animated feature next year.”
Other fans think that the movie is too similar to other creative entities already made. Fans compare Elemental to Osmosis Jones, the TV series Avatar: The Last Airbender, and the characters from the old video game “Fireboy and Watergirl.” The similarities to some of these are quite uncanny.
Many still have hope that the film will turn out better than expected. The team at Pixar is incredibly talented, and fans should trust that they will pull out something spectacular.
The film is set to release in June. It will star Leah Lawis, Mamoudou Athie, Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Catherine O’Hara, Mason Wertheimer, and Joe Pera.
