I just went December 24th and 25th this year 2024,the security checkpoints were completely enpty and with the lightning pass I never waited longer than 15 minutes to get on a ride.The park seemed more empty than usual
We were just there the end of November. It was a nightmare and we will never go back. We stayed at the Grand Californian which was a small fortune and still we had to pay $50 per day to park. We started very early every day but it didn’t make a difference. There were so many rides we couldn’t go on because the lines were so long. As far as the lightening pass they cost $400.00 each and still some with the pass still had to wait. It felt like extortion. For safety sake Disney needs to limit how many they will let in. If I were a crazy mass shooter I would go there as we were packed in like sardines and you could shoot so many people before you might get caught.
“Effectiveness of existing protocols” – Seems the main reason re security is they have not adopted the screening technology of their Florida counterpart. Anaheim screening would be expedited if they implemented Florida’s technology which does not require a manual search of each guest. It selects those guests who would require enhanced screening.
Clarification – manual search of each guest’s bag(s).

Don’t go during Xmas week. Especially Xmas Day. Problem solved
They locked out Annual passholders for three weeks for just this reason.
