For months, Disney Imagineers have been hard at work on reimagining the popular ToonTown area at Disneyland Resort. ToonTown is located behind Fantasyland in Disneyland Park and is a great place to find some of your favorite characters, like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, and Goofy. The area also features attractions like Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin and Gadget’s Go Coaster. And in early 2023, it will be the new home of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
While we were not expecting the new Mickey’s Toontown to open at Disneyland Park until March 2023, Disney has just shared that it will be opening earlier! Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will begin taking Guests on an exciting cartoon adventure beginning January 27!

While Mickey’s Toontown is slated to reopen for guests in spring 2023, we are pleased to announce that the new Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction will open early as we kick off the Disney100 anniversary celebration on Jan. 27!
So, even though construction will still be happening all around Guests, the new ride will be ready! It’s also exciting that Guests will be able to see the Toontown transformation happening right before their eyes!
Toontown will be the second location of the popular new ride. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway first opened in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort on March 4, 2020, taking the place of The Great Movie Ride.

Burst into Mickey and Minnie’s World
The darling duo are taking a leisurely drive to a picnic in their sporty roadster—with Engineer Goofy’s train following merrily along. Plot twist—you get to go, too! Climb aboard a runaway railway and embark on a whirlwind ride through a world where the rules of physics don’t apply. Prepare for unexpected twists, slapstick gags and mind-boggling transformations at every turn, as Mickey and Minnie try to save the day.
There’s no telling where this train is heading! This is an adventure for Mickey and Minnie fans of all ages.
A First-of-Its-Kind Ride
Based on the recent award-winning Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is the first ride at any Disney park that stars Mickey Mouse and friends.
Again, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open on January 27, 2023, but the reimagined Toontown will not be completed until early spring 2023.
