Universal Orlando’s new attraction is taking over the theme parks.
Universal Orlando is a popular tourist location seeing thousands of Guests daily. Universal consists of two main theme parks, Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure, as well as a water park called Volcano Bay. Together, these theme parks offer a wide range of entertainment experiences for Guests of all ages.
Universal is no stranger to change, and with change, beloved attractions will face closures, refurbishment, and much more for new attractions. Universal Studios Hollywood recently opened SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, which features Princess Peach and Mario. Universal Orlando Resort is in the process of building a third theme park called Epic Universe which will open in 2025, and Universal Destinations & Experiences has announced that it will be adding a third theme park in America, located in Texas.
Universal Studios Florida will soon be taken over by little yellow creatures called Minions. Universal Studios Florida already has one minion attraction, called Decsible Me Minion Mayhem, and soon Universal Studios Florida will open Minion Cafe, Villain Con Minion Blast, Bake My Day, and much more in this new Minion land.
Universal Orlando Resort tweeted the first look photos at this new land.

The Universal Minion is a popular animated character that originated from the Despicable Me film franchise. These small, yellow creatures with cylindrical bodies and single or double eyes have become iconic symbols in popular culture. Due to their immense popularity, the Minions have gained their own standalone film, aptly titled Minions (2017), which serves as a prequel to the Despicable Me movies. In addition, Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022) was released last year and came with major fanfare, absolutely destroying the box office.
Orlando Amusement has tweeted about the new Minion attraction called Villain Con Minion Blast, saying that it will likely takeover the Parks after it opens Summer of 2023. With this new attraction coming, another attraction that is falling apart may close for refurbishment.
HOT TAKE: With a new interactive ride opening this summer at Universal Orlando, Men In Black: Alien Attack will VERY likely close for refurbishment. A large storage tent was recently installed at the attraction.

In a social media post, Guests talked about how the new Minion attraction is similar to Men in Black, and how Men in Black could use a major update.
“The minions ride seems very similar to Men in Black. It’s also taking up a lot of space where they could possibly build something great with better technology. MIB also hasn’t been a relevant IP for a while.”
Do you think this new Minion attraction will cause Men in Black to close at Universal Studios Orlando for updates or even face a permanent closure?
