There are a seemingly endless number of stories to be told within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Disney Plus is happy to capitalize wherever it can. Experiencing streaming success with Marvel Studios television series such as She Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022), Loki (2021), Hawkeye (2021), and more, Disney has released details for the spinoff of one of its most acclaimed series, WandaVision (2021).
Agatha: Coven of Chaos will follow Wanda Maximoff’s (AKA the Scarlet Witch) witch nemesis Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn. Hahn’s antagonist opposite Elizabeth Olsen in WandaVision was a quick hit with Marvel fans, who are certainly looking forward to the new series.
Here’s the hot gossip about the show that currently filming right now!
Wandavision creator Jac Schaeffer is also the showrunner for Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which was originally announced as Agatha: House of Harkness. Rachel Goldberg (American Horror Story) and Gandja Monteiro (Wednesday) are set to direct, creating a pretty dynamic female-led operation!

Get ready for some famous faces, new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to join the cast! Deadpan comedy goddess Aubrey Plaza is rumored to play a villainous witch in Agatha’s coven.
Also, absolute Broadway legend Patti LuPone will be a part of the project. LuPone’s character, Lilia Calderu (AKA Witch-Queen of the Gypsies), is “a 450-year-old Sicilian witch whose power is divination and whose trial is tarot.” Plus Patti admittedly knows very little about the Marvel Universe. This brings me to the most chaotic point…
Agatha: Coven of Chaos will be a MUSICAL. A sing-y, dance-y Marvel witch musical. I can feel the chaos from here!
How much of a musical the show will be isn’t totally confirmed. However, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are reportedly writing the score. LuPone also confirmed she’s at least singing backup for Hahn’s Agatha.
While Elizabeth Olsen isn’t officially slated to make an appearance, Marvel fans are hoping and making speculations that she will!
Filming should be wrapping up soon in Atlanta, which means at least a trailer by summer and hopefully a Halloween release date. That may be too much to ask, but the theming would be so on point.
