New Hot Sauce Replaces Fan Favorite Sauce at Walt Disney World Under New Kraft Deal
Nobody plans a Disney trip around hot sauce packets.
But condiments are the kind of small things guests notice instantly and feel strongly about. A ketchup dispenser swap pulls a hundred comments. A napkin redesign gets flagged. These are details people touch at every meal, and familiarity does a lot of work.
So here is one worth knowing before your next trip.
Tabasco is being removed from Walt Disney World restaurants and replaced with Tapatío.
To be clear, this is not Disney eliminating hot sauce. There will still be hot sauce. It is a different one, and the two are not interchangeable.
Where It Has Been Spotted
Tapatío packets have replaced Tabasco at ABC Commissary at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Same swap at The American Adventure in EPCOT, which points to a broad rollout rather than a one-off.
New Heinz condiment dispensers have also appeared at ABC Commissary. That detail explains the timing.
These Are Genuinely Different Sauces
This matters more than a typical brand swap.
Tabasco Original Red Sauce is made primarily with distilled vinegar, red peppers, and salt. Sharp, thin, vinegar-forward. Heat arrives fast, acidity dominates.
Tapatío contains water, red peppers, garlic, spices, and other ingredients. Thicker, different balance of heat and flavor, noticeably less vinegar bite.
If you put Tabasco on eggs specifically for the acidity, Tapatío will not do the same job. If you always found Tabasco too sharp, you may like this better.
Neither is objectively better. They get used differently, and people who care about hot sauce care about that.
Why Now
The timing traces straight to the Kraft Heinz partnership Disney announced in July.
That multi-year agreement brought Kraft Heinz products to Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World, and Disney Cruise Line across North America, covering ten brands including HEINZ ketchup, Philadelphia cream cheese, and Kraft Mac and Cheese.
Critically, it made Kraft Heinz the exclusive provider of select condiments at Disney’s North American parks and resorts and on Disney Cruise Line.
Exclusive is the operative word. When one company holds an exclusive condiment agreement, competing brands come off the table.
Since July, Heinz dispensers have debuted at Disneyland Resort, aboard Disney Cruise Line, and now at Walt Disney World.
About Tapatío’s Owner
Worth getting right, because the assumption is easy to make.
Kraft Heinz does not own Tapatío.
The Saavedra family founded the brand in 1971. Private equity firm Highlander Partners acquired it in a deal announced January 2026, with the family retaining a minority stake.
Tapatío does appear in Kraft Heinz foodservice listings, indicating a distribution relationship rather than ownership. That would explain how a non-Heinz brand replaces Tabasco under a Heinz exclusivity arrangement.
Disney has not explained the specific choice, so the exact mechanics are unconfirmed. But the timing alongside the dispenser rollout is hard to call a coincidence.
Expect Two Reactions
Condiment changes always produce both.
Some guests will be annoyed. Tabasco has been an American restaurant default for over a century, and plenty of people consider it the only acceptable table hot sauce.
Others will call it an upgrade. Tapatío has a huge following, especially in the western United States, and many find it more flavorful than Tabasco’s vinegar-heavy profile.
There is also the reasonable middle ground: a hot sauce packet at a quick-service counter does not warrant strong feelings.
The Part That Matters More
This is the real story.
The Kraft Heinz deal is not a seasonal promotion. It is multi-year and exclusive, embedding specific brands across hundreds of Disney dining locations. But it is important to note that Tapatío is not part of Kraft.
Exclusivity always means something has to be removed to make room. Heinz dispensers arriving is the visible half. Tabasco vanishing is the other half, and it is quieter because nobody announces what leaves.
Expect more. If a product category falls under that exclusivity, whatever Disney used before is probably on its way out.
If You Care
One option. Bring your own.
Individual Tabasco packets are easy to find and take up no space, and Disney does not stop guests from bringing condiments.
Sounds ridiculous to pack for a vacation. Hot sauce people will not think so.
Otherwise, try the Tapatío. Legitimately good sauce with a devoted following, and most guests will stop noticing the difference within a meal or two.
