Universal Orlando Outshines Mickey Mouse, Disney’s Holiday Season

Florida is renowned for its world-class theme parks: Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, Legoland, and many more theme parks.

Walt Disney World Resort is known for being “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” bringing guests from young to old to experience Disney’s magic. Disney World is known for special characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Cinderella, Winnie the Pooh, Moana, and many more characters guests may spot while at the most magical place. With the magic of character meet-and-greets, guests may spot these characters across Disney World’s four theme parks — Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Universal Orlando is another popular tourist location located in Florida. This theme park is home to two parks: Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure. Each park offers different worlds and attractions. Some of the most popular lands include Jurassic Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Seuss Landing, the Lost Continent, and many more worlds.

While guests are heading to Disney World, Mickey Mouse is a must for character meet and greets as a first-time visit or a frequent guest. While meet and greets are an exciting part of Disney World, wait times vary from character to character and depending on the time of year and how busy the parks are at that moment. Some guests wait hours to meet Mickey Mouse, or when Figment announced his meet and greet earlier this year, Figment fans and Disney guests waited hours and hours to meet this lovable dragon.

Over at Universal Orlando, character meet and greets are out and about. Guests heading to Universal Studios Florida can stop by Illumination Theater. This spot offers meet and greets from familiar faces such as the Minions, Gru, Margo, Edith, and Agnes, along with characters from the hit DreamWorks film Sing (2016). This is not the only spot for meet and greets, guests can also spot characters walking around the parks, such as the Trolls, Puss in Boots, SpongeBob, and several other characters.

During the holiday, both Universal and Disney offer special character meet and greets. Disney World offers Mickey and Minnie in their Christmas attire, Jack Skellington and Sally, Donald Duck, Scrooge McDuck, and many more characters. At Universal Orlando, special characters like the Grinch are available for meet and greets.

Universal Orlando guests have been talking about the Grinch meet and greet. This special event is a popular meet and greet due to it being seasonal. Guests have gone viral after waiting over four hours just to meet the Grinch. Last year, guests who wished to meet the mean one himself had to join a virtual queue to get in line to meet him. This year, Universal made changes where guests can wait in line to meet him. These wait times vary from day to day.

Another way Universal guests can meet the Grinch without waiting in that long meet and greet line is The Grinch and Friends Breakfast. This breakfast allows guests dining to meet the Grinch after eating. The offering sadly sold out fast due to the excitement of meeting the Grinch.

While Universal guests may not get to meet the Grinch while standing in line this holiday season, guests can sign up for the Universal Holiday Tour, which allows guests to have an exclusive Meet and Greets with the Grinch and his faithful dog, Max. Guests also get reserved seating for The Grinchmas Who-holiday Spectacular. Universal guests also get a private meet and greet with Santa. Guests will also have priority access to one pre-selected attraction, an after-hours showing of The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts™ Castle.

Do you think the Grinch is outshining Mickey Mouse?
