What a terrible way to start off the new year. According to multiple reports, Marvel actor Jeremy Renner — who played Hawkeye in a number of Avengers films, as well as in his own series — was involved in a terrible snow plow accident. The actor was airlifted to a hospital and is currently listed as being in “critical but stable” condition. His representative confirmed that his family is with him and his is “receiving excellent care” at a hospital in the Reno, Nevada area, where he has a home.
CNN shared more information surrounding Renner’s awful accident.
Officers responded to a “traumatic injury” in the area of Mount Rose Highway in Reno, according to a news release from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, which has previously said the Academy Award-nominated actor lived in the community.
The sheriff’s office did not provide details on the extent of Renner’s injuries or what may have caused the accident.
Deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Renner via care flight to a local area hospital, the release stated.
Renner, who stars in the Paramount+ series “Mayor of Kingstown” and has been featured in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films – including in the role of Hawkeye – was the only person involved in the accident, officials said.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is looking into the circumstances.
In addition to his most recent Marvel show, Hawkeye, Mr. Renner was also working on a new show for Disney+ called Rennervations. The show was announced last February, and more details were shared by Deadline.
Rennervations is a four-part series that embraces Renner’s lifelong passion for giving back to communities around the world by reimagining unique purpose-built vehicles to meet a community’s needs.
Mr. Renner first joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2011, when he had an uncredited role as Clint Barton in Thor. From there, he went on to star in four more Marvel films — The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Endgame. He also appeared in the animated Marvel series What If?….
