Pirates of the Caribbean has been delighting Disney fans for decades, and it’s always exciting when Disney gives the classic attraction a little extra care.

Recently, a couple of permits were filed for the ride at Magic Kingdom, which might not seem like a big deal at first, but they show that even timeless attractions need a bit of TLC.

So, what’s happening? According to the permits, one is for low-voltage work, which usually points to electrical updates like improving lighting or sound systems. The other is for painting—something Disney does often to keep rides looking fresh. While these updates don’t signal a massive refurbishment, they’re a nice reminder that Disney takes pride in maintaining even its oldest rides.

For those unfamiliar with Pirates of the Caribbean, it’s one of Magic Kingdom’s most popular attractions. From its opening in 1973, it’s been a must-do for anyone visiting Adventureland. You get to float through pirate-filled waters, hear catchy tunes like “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me),” and see Captain Jack Sparrow sneakily pop up throughout the ride. It’s a timeless experience for Disney fans of all ages.

At this time, no closures are planned, so guests don’t need to worry about it being down on their next trip. But who knows? These small updates could lead to something bigger down the line. Disney often uses opportunities like this to sprinkle in new surprises, as they did when they added Captain Jack Sparrow animatronics years ago. For now, it’s great to see a fan-favorite ride getting a little attention.
