It’s the most wonderful time of the year, which means that it is also one of the busiest times of the year at Walt Disney World Resort. Guests are making their days merry and bright by heading to “The Most Magical Place on Earth.” That means that there will be some long lines, so be sure to pack your patience along with your Santa hat.
Right now, reservations are still required to visit the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. However, if you are headed to Disney World before the end of the year and still haven’t made your park reservations, then we have some news you’ll want to know.
The Magic Kingdom is completely sold out until the end of the year. According to the Walt Disney World Resort website, there are no reservations available at the Magic Kingdom until January 1. The good news is that all the other theme parks have availability on most days, and Animal Kingdom still has availability every day through the new year!
The new year will bring a lot of big changes for those planning a visit.

Beginning January 9, guests with dated tickets will no longer be required to make a theme park reservation. Annual Passholders will still have to make reservations (for now), but they will have more “good to go” days, which means they can visit without needing a reservation. These “good to go” days will also not count against reservations already made by the Passholder.

In addition to the theme park reservation change, January 9 will also mark the long-awaited end of park hopping restrictions! That’s right, guests will be able to park hop to whichever Disney Park they want whenever they want! No more waiting until 2 p.m. Guests have been begging for the end of park hopping restrictions for a long time, and it is almost here!
If you have a trip planned to Disney World before the end of the year, and you have your ticket, but you haven’t made reservations, then we highly recommend you do so ASAP. The parks will only continue to book up faster as we get closer to the new year. Right now, there is still a lot of availability at three out of the four parks, but that could quickly change.
We hope you enjoy your holiday trip to Walt Disney World Resort and have the merriest New Year!
