If you know anything about Walt Disney World, you know that the Disney Parks can acquire some huge crowds. However, nothing can quite compare to the crowds at the Walt Disney World Resort during the holidays. With hundreds of thousands of guests traveling to experience Disney World, crowds can become overwhelming at times. Today, I’ve put together a list of the best quiet places to avoid crowds at Disney World.
Disney World is filled with environments that can become crowded, loud, and overstimulating. When you combine these factors with extra guests visiting for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and or seasonal EPCOT festivals, no one would blame you for needing a break. Even though the parks can appear super crowded, we have a few lesser-known spaces where you can relax.
Baby Care Centers
If you have young kids, you should familiarize yourself with the Baby Care Centers in each Disney park. These centers are designed to offer a private and quiet place for families to change diapers and feed children. They even provide a separate private room for nursing mothers. The Baby Care Centers are staffed by Cast Members and sell an assortment of items such as bottles, diapers, and assorted sundries. Even if you have older kids who just need space to decompress, these are great quiet places to keep in mind.
Upstairs Dining in Magic Kingdom
Though it’s not technically hidden, not many people know that two Magic Kingdom quick service restaurants offer upstairs seating. At Pinocchio Village Haus in Fantasyland and Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square, you can enjoy your food in a second-floor dining room. These upstairs dining rooms offer great, air-conditioned, quiet spaces and less crowded. These are perfect if you’re looking for a quiet place to decompress with a meal or need extra room for a child to burn off some energy.
Morocco Pavilion in EPCOT
EPCOT’s World Showcase can become very crowded, especially in the evenings. However, throughout World Showcase, you will find several secluded areas that are great for a quick break. In the back of EPCOT’s Morocco Pavilion, you’ll find a quiet and peaceful spot to rest. This area is still outside, so beware of the heat, but it’s more secluded, offering a nice break from the crowds. During select EPCOT festivals, the Restaurant Marrakesh is used as a seasonal lounge, which attracts more guests than normal, so check before you go.
Another great quiet area can be found in the Japan pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase. This large pavilion offers dining and merchandise locations that attract more of the visiting crowds. However, if you travel uphill to the pavilion’s second level, you’ll find a more secluded flower garden. This garden has a koi pond and provides a peaceful, relaxing area behind Katsura Grill. This is one of the best quiet places to take advantage of during the evenings.
Star Wars Launch Bay
At Hollywood Studios, it can be hard to feel like there’s any quiet corner from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to Sunset Boulevard. However, the Star Wars Launch Bay in Animation Courtyard is a great place to relax and enjoy a quiet place. While the Launch Bay has character meet and greets and exhibits on display, it’s often less crowded with lots of space. This air-conditioned space is a great place for a quick break in your park day.
Flame Tree Barbecue
You may be tempted to rule out Flame Tree Barbecue when you need a relaxing place to take a break because of its popularity. While this is a popular quick service restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, its outdoor seating area provides a great place to relax. There’s tons of seating with beautiful views, and if you visit during non-peak dining hours, you’ll find lots of space to enjoy.
Attractions with Low Wait Times
Theme Park attractions may seem like the main draw for many crowds, but some attractions offer a delightful break. I can’t promise that all of these will always have a low wait time with no crowd, so check your My Disney Experience app before you go. These are some of the best attractions that offer quiet places and a quick break:
- Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom
- Tomorrowland PeopleMover at Magic Kingdom
- Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom
- Tom Sawyer Island at Magic Kingdom
- Living with the Land at EPCOT
- Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros at EPCOT
- Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360 at EPCOT
- Star Wars Launch Bay at Hollywood Studios
- Walt Disney Presents at Hollywood Studios
- Muppet Vision 3D at Hollywood Studios
- Conservation Station at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- It’s Tough to be a Bug! at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Exposition Park at Disney Springs
Even though Disney Springs sees large crowds, you can find a break at Exposition Park. This area is located at Disney Springs West Side, across from Disney’s Candy Cauldron and Super Hero Headquarters. This is a great outdoor space for kids to move around, and it offers benches where you can take a break in a quiet place.
