It’s not uncommon for Disney Parks to be quiet when they first open for the day, but Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland was devoid of activity this morning. Here’s why!
Of all the Disney Parks making up Walt Disney World Resort, Magic Kingdom has the most classic attractions. Rides such as Space Mountain, the Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Peter Pan’s Flight, and “it’s a small world” all reside in Magic Kingdom.
But it’s no secret that a familiar name is missing from this list: Splash Mountain.
By now, it’s old news that Splash Mountain has closed its doors forever and will reopen as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, leaving Frontierland with only one major attraction: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
The thrill ride is beloved by many Disney Guests, both children, and adults alike. This roller coaster takes Guests through an abandoned Big Thunder Mining Company mine shaft and a nearby Old West town, twisting and turning along the way. It’s not just a roller coaster, it’s the wildest ride in the wilderness!
No one can deny that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a classic! But this morning, the ride was mysteriously unavailable, leaving Frontierland empty…
According to the Walt Disney World mobile app, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was listed as “Temporarily Closed” this morning. While we’re not sure why it was closed, we are confident that it must have left Frontierland eerily empty, with no significant attractions other than the Walt Disney World Railroad.
Luckily, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is back in business according to the Walt Disney World mobile app, and Guests can experience the wildest ride in the wilderness again!
