It seems that nature’s wrath has once again made Walt Disney World Resort its target.
Any Disney Parks fan is aware of just how brutal the Florida weather can get, especially during summertime. The sprawling theme park complex, which encompasses four major theme parks, is often forced to confront the whims of Mother Nature. Whether it’s excruciating heat spells or disastrous downpours of rain, Florida weather is not to be messed with.
A particularly turbulent storm has blown through Walt Disney World Resort today, leaving fans out of luck after one Park suffered major ride closures.
Weather Affects Walt Disney World Rides
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, with its immersive and breathtaking experiences, is a supremely popular destination for Disney Park-goers. Nestled within the Walt Disney World Resort, this animal-themed Park takes visitors on a journey through lush landscapes and offers exotic animal encounters. From exploring the mystical world of Pandora in Avatar Flight of Passage to embarking on a safari adventure in Kilimanjaro Safaris, guests are treated to a unique and memorable experience at this Park.
However, on this fateful rainy day, lightning strikes disrupted the harmony at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. As the skies grew dark and ominous, rides began dropping like flies.

Where Are the Rides?!
A Guest visiting Walt Disney World Resort shared a shocking screenshot that showed just how shocking the ride closures were at Disney’s Animal Kingdom today. At around 2:30 p.m. EST, numerous rides were shut down due to lightning and rain storms pummeling the area.
The rides include Expedition Everest-Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail, Kali River Rapids, Maharajah Jungle Trek, Navi River Journey, and TriceraTop Spin. The fan who posted the Reddit post says;
“The only thing working is the restroom lol”
Another fan shares some more context to the shut-down, saying;
“AK is the park hit hardest by lightning shutdowns. If Pandora is having technical difficulties at the same time by coincidence, then yes you’re basically just left with Dinosaur and the indoor shows.”
As of now, it seems that most of these rides have once again been able to reopen to Guests. While weather closures are always a bummer, it is, unfortunately, a risk that you take for visiting Walt Disney World.
