Although its moniker is the ‘Sunshine State,’ locals and frequent visitors will know that Florida’s weather is actually very fickle. It seems that during the summer, the rain and the sunshine are constantly competing.

Not only that, but hurricane season is a very real thing in the Sunshine State. In fact, Florida is so full of thunderstorms that it’s easily the lightning capital of the United States. Unfortunately, Walt Disney World is not immune to the effects of the lightning capital.
However, Walt Disney World has prepared for this. Nearly every building in Magic Kingdom is equipped with a lightning rod, avoiding dangerous lightning strikes and creating a more controlled environment.

Reportedly, Walt Disney World saw a lot of lightning yesterday. Both Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios witnessed some lighting as some typical Florida summer storms rolled in.
But they weren’t the only Disney Parks to experience some stormy lightning yesterday. Reportedly, EPCOT also witnessed some lightning as these massive storms rolled in:

In this Reddit post, a Guest reports seeing lightning strike something extremely close to the American Adventure pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase.
In another Reddit post made in the same 24-hour timeframe, a different Guest reports that two of the offerings in EPCOT’s American Adventure pavilion were missing: Regal Eagle, a restaurant, and the theater, an attraction.

Reportedly, these were the only offerings in the Disney Park to be affected by any lightning. So, Spaceship Earth, Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind were all unaffected.
