After meeting an adorable porcupine with over 30,000 spikes that Animal mistakes for a bunny rabbit, the Muppets set off the see Animal Kingdom. Because of their similar names, Animal the Muppet believes Animal Kingdom is “his kingdom.”
They start off in the newest section of the Park, constructed after Avatar’s Pandora. It’s a beautiful glimpse into what the area looks like at night without tons of people clogging up the walkways.
Next they hop over to the Festival of The Lion King to meet some Tumble Monkeys. Kermit is impressed, but Animal is impatient and insists it’s time for “Everest! Everest!”
We learn that one of the statues outside Expedition Everest is Animal’s cousin, Fred, who stays put while Kermit and Animal head to the rollercoaster. The camera takes us on a shakey journey of Disney’s most popular coasters with nighttime views. The picture from the ride comes out, showing Kermit terrified in the second row next to Animal.
Animal is disappointed in the photo because he blinked. But Kermit is having an emotional breakdown because no one told him that Expedition Everest goes backwards.
Their conversation overlaps with Animal saying, “Blinked!” and Kermit yelling “It goes backwards!” Animal insists they ride it again.
At the end of the night, the two are exhausted. Animal wears a Safari Mickey hat, sleepily holding a bongo drum and a Mickey Ice Cream Bar. Baby Simba is in a pouch on his back as he waves to the Tree of Life and says. “Night night, my kingdom.”
The video ends with Animal Kingdom’s logo and a reminder to catch Animal in the all-new Disney+ original series The Muppets Mayhem streaming on May 10.
Happy 25th Anniversary Animal(‘s) Kingdom!
