‘Jungle Cruise’ Star Emily Blunt Is a “Diva” to Work With on Set

Atlhough featured alongside big-time actor Dwayne Johnson in 2022’s Jungle Cruise, superstar Emily Blunt isn’t a newcomer to fame or Disney. Oppenheimer’s leading lady has had quite the Disney career including appearances in The Muppets (2011), Into the Woods (2014), and of course, Mary Poppins Returns (2018). Emily Blunt’s work outside of Disney includes titles such as The Devil Wears Prada (2006), The Wolf Man (2010), and Charlie Wilson’s War (2007) alongside Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. Although the star has continuously worked with multiple big projects with names like Matt Damon, Christopher Nolan, and Meryl Streep, the lead in the once Mary Poppin’s life is without a doubt her husband, John Krasinski.

Krasinski, who has made quite a name in Hollywood for himself of late, is best known for his role as Jim in The Office. However, despite their independent projects, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski have teamed up a couple of times to tackle one of their more popular films, A Quiet Place (2018). Directed by John Krasinski, A Quiet Place breathed new life into horror, playing on the eerie quiet presence in a world without sound. The popular film worked well in making guests enjoyably uncomfortable while keeping them glued to the edge of their seats. So well, that a sequel followed in 2021. Not only was it the first of its kind in terms of theatre, but it was also the first time that Krasinski would work alongside Blunt on set, and according to Blunt’s husband, he was incredibly nervous about working with the former Miss Mary Poppins as she had a bit of a reputation for being a “diva” on set.

In a recent interview on the Graham Norton Show, Krasinski didn’t hold back when discussing the expectations of working with his wife on the 2018 horror film. Considering the Free Guy actor was not only starring in the film, he was also directing it; his consideration of off-screen talk regarding Emily Blunt’s unpleasant demeanor on-set was probably justified. However, like any good husband, Krasinki thought best to confide his concerns with his spouse, leading to a surprising answer.

“It was weird because I was very nervous about it, to be honest. I think we both were. Before we started shooting, she said ‘Are you nervous?’ I said ‘I’m terrified’ and she said ‘Oh, good. Me too!’ I think it’s one of those things where people think because we’re both in the same business, we have the same experiences. But I’ve actually never been on set with her, seen how she worked. I’d heard she was a diva and I just can’t get Emily out of her trailer. Stuff like that. But I think what it was is and it sounds really sappy, but it’s true. I think it’s the greatest collaboration I’ve ever had in my career. I’ve never seen her work and when you’re actually in the room and she does what she does, it honestly, it changes the air in the room”

Of course, the Jack Ryan frontman went on to dispel the rumors about his wife, insisting that she was a pleasure to work with, and that she was a big part of why the movies were such a raving success. As both Krasinski and Emily Blunt are rising stars in Hollywood, both still with the apex of their careers in their headlights, it’s nice to know that such a famous couple seems as down-to-earth as these two. It’s a big part of what makes them so likable and why there’s a growing demand for both Krasinski and Blunt to appear in future projects, independently and together.
