Money Spent on “Harry Potter” Will Officially Go to Anti-Transgender Cause

For years, JK Rowling’s views on transgender rights have sparked controversy, but now, the “Harry Potter” series author has confirmed that the money earned from her massively popular franchise will be used to fund anti-transgender causes. Despite earlier attempts to downplay her opinions, JK Rowling has openly admitted to using her wealth to support a private fund that aims to restrict the rights of transgender women, particularly in areas like “the workplace, in public life, and in protected female spaces.”

Rowling’s stance on transgender issues first gained significant attention in 2018, when she “accidentally” liked a transphobic tweet. Over time, her public comments have only added fuel to the fire, including a claim that female Olympic boxer Imane Khelif was a man, as well as vocal support for a Scottish legal case that argued transgender women were not legally women.

Many fans of Harry Potter have since distanced themselves from Rowling and the franchise, including the stars of the original films. Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) have all spoken out in support of the transgender community and distanced themselves from the author’s views. These actions have led to a widespread boycott of various Harry Potter-related projects, from video games like “Hogwarts Legacy” to the Fantastic Beasts film series, and even the theme park attractions at Universal Studios.

The confirmation of Rowling’s financial contributions to anti-transgender causes seems to validate their decision. In a recent announcement, the author confirmed that she had contributed substantial funds to “The J.K. Rowling Women’s Fund,” a private legal fund that “offers legal funding support to individuals and organisations fighting to retain women’s sex-based rights in the workplace, in public life, and in protected female spaces.”

Rowling explained on X (formerly Twitter) that she chose a private fund instead of a charity, saying, “I looked into all options and a private fund is the most efficient, streamlined way for me to do this. Lots of people are offering to contribute, which I truly appreciate, but there are many other women’s rights orgs that could do with the money, so donate away, just not to me!”

This private fund supports individuals who claim to have “lost their livelihoods or are facing tribunals because of their expressed beliefs,” are “being forced to comply with unreasonable inclusion policies regarding single-sex spaces and services, or female-only clubs and events,” or are challenging legislation that they feel infringes on women’s rights. In essence, it supports legal battles led by cisgender women who are fighting against transgender inclusion and rights.

This isn’t the first time JK Rowling has used her fortune to fund anti-transgender causes. In 2024, she donated £70,000 to For Women Scotland, a group that opposed a law recognizing transgender women as women. The group’s legal battle went all the way to the U.K. Supreme Court, and after winning the case, it dismantled rights and protections for transgender women under the Equality Act.

  1. It is just her who is doing these things, not the steaming services or Universal studios. I am assuming that the original actors, receive or received money for their services and the new cast will to. So if you boycott you are hurting everyone who is involved with the franchise. This being said I do not agree with the author about the rights of transgender people but I will still watch the series and go to universal studios, because the profit is shared with more then just her.

  2. It is her money to spend as she chooses and no-one has a right to approve or disapprove of her choices. If someone does not agree with her viewpoint, then that is their problem, not hers. Science is on her side as XY will never equal XX, no mater how much estrogen is pumped into the male body. Protecting women’s spaces from unwanted intrusions by biological males places Rowling on the correct side of history.

  3. At least there are still people in the world that have common sense and not I have done gone with all the leftist. D and woke and transgender stuff. I don’t see why they can’t just if they want to compete against each other, start their own league and leave the women with the women and the men with the men. And then the weirdos, with the weirdos.
