RIP Hall of Presidents: Disney Reportedly Removing Patriotic Magic Kingdom Show

A surprising new rumor suggests that Walt Disney World Resort might be considering retiring the Hall of Presidents show and replacing it with a Muppets-themed satirical take on American history.

The idea of replacing the Hall of Presidents has been circulating for some time now, especially as the attraction requires expensive updates each time a new president takes office. With the political climate constantly shifting, Disney is reportedly looking to step away from the political aspect of the show and introduce something that’s both entertaining and educational, without the need for constant updates.

The rumors recently came to light in a video from TikTok influencer @sweatyoracle, who claims to have inside information from sources within both The Jim Henson Company and Disney.

“I swear I have vetted this with multiple sources inside the Muppets and inside of Walt Disney World,” the TikToker began. “What if I told you aside from the Muppets taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, the Muppets are getting another new attraction at Walt Disney World? Another new attraction that you’re going to find completely unbelievable, because it took multiple people to convince me of this.”

According to the TikToker, rumors of replacing the Hall of Presidents with a Muppets attraction began back in 2016. The show, which typically requires an expensive update every four to eight years, has seen its fair share of diminishing interest in recent times. The TikToker claimed that Disney sought alternatives that wouldn’t revolve around constantly updating presidents.

“I hear Disney has opted to get out of the politics game involving presidents,” @sweatyoracle continued. “…It is going to be replaced by a live puppet show featuring the Muppets doing a satirical take on American history, particularly the presidential process.”

The idea of incorporating Muppets into an educational experience isn’t entirely new. Back when former Disney CEO Michael Eisner was pushing for the creation of a Disney’s America park, one of the ideas reportedly being considered was an educational Muppets show focused on American history. Although the Disney’s America project never came to fruition, the Muppets’ educational angle has stuck around.

“I heard Disney was considering two options for the Hall of Presidents [in 2016],” @sweatyoracle said. “One was, they wanted Lin-Manuel Miranda and ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic to put on a musical show together that would be shown on the screen…and neither of them were really interested…The other was replacing it with the show featuring the Muppets.”

Interestingly, this wouldn’t be the first time the Muppets have graced Liberty Square. From 2016 to 2020, the area hosted “The Muppets Present … Great Moments in American History,” a live outdoor show where Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and other Muppets characters brought history to life in their own funny way. The outdoor show was a hit with guests, and many are hopeful that this new Muppets attraction could revive the charm of that experience.

The rumor has quickly gained traction among Disney Parks fans, with many taking to the comments to express their excitement at the prospect of the Muppets making a permanent return to Liberty Square.

“This is the smartest thing they could do,” said @bradyjc103. “The Muppets show in Liberty Square was fun, but logistically I can see why it would be bad for traffic flow. This would be so much better!”

“Disney please I beg you let this happen,” @heartfullofroxanne replied. “I desperately need it.”

Of course, at this point, the idea of the Muppets replacing the Hall of Presidents remains speculative. Disney has yet to confirm or deny the rumor, and there has been no official announcement regarding the reopening of the Hall of Presidents or a new Muppets attraction at Magic Kingdom Park.

  1. My vote is to keep the current hall of presidents. I don’t consider it partisan politics but instead patriotic. I’d be sad to see it go.

    1. I agree. Disney should not get rid of the hall of presidents. That’s one of the best things. Besides this small world in Peter PAN ride and song with a south ride, which is splash mountain. But Disneyland got so leftist. Now, I mean, next thing you know, they’re gonna have people running around naked, tin it up with body paint. Out there with children, they probably gonna put in a ride that shows them how to change their bodies to be the pronoun that they want to be.They’ll probably put in some kind of show that actually probably will show operation on how to do it

  2. Please get rid of the hall of presidents! Why would disney want to keep a show that for one has a president that constantly goes after disney and their ideas. And secondly the Muppets show would be so much better for everyone because they will make learning about American history and the presidential history fun especially for kids! They won’t get bored and fall asleep or scream and cry to leave the show!

  3. I agree! It’s one of the best attractions to see at Disney and learn the history of our country. The animatronics are nothing but sheer amazing. Please DON’T take the Hall of Presidents away!!!

  4. Keep the hall!!! It should not be used as a political spectacle but a learning experience as it has been. Your never going to get 100% of the public to ever agree on anything so leave this one alone and running.

  5. Keep the Hall of Presidents. It is our countries history! We have had enough of our history erased already. Youngsters should know how this country evolved.

  6. Please keep the hall of presidents. Our young people need to know more about the history of our country. Is everything now gonna be Muppet related?

  7. Keep the Hall of Presidents. It’s extremely patriotic and educational. I always have a great feeling walking out of there. Politics should be outside the park. It’s right where it should be…in Liberty Square. Our kids should be taught how our country started and continues to function. It’s so dramatic.

  8. While I have to agree that The Hall of Presidents is not a well attended attraction I personally think it would be a terrible loss! First it would be taking away another attraction that Walt Disney was so proud of. Second it would be seen by the majority of Americans as a political statement. I would think that Disney would know by now it is best to stay out of politics! Please keep The Hall of Presidents.

  9. Keep the Hall of Presidents! It’s our history. Disgraceful to substitute it with the muppets. Disney makes enough money to update when needed. It’s one attraction my family always goes to see and was disappointing to find it closed the last 2 times we were there.

  10. Keep the Hall of Presidents so historical and educational. I would not be interested is seeing the Muppets making fun of history.

  11. I would hate to see it go, as it is not political, but a patriotic portrait of our history. As for. The expense, at least this time they will only have to add a president after 12 years.

  12. I’ve been here many times and I believe the hall would not be a great loss. People usually only go in for the air conditioning break A little comedy would be better for everyone and as far as history goes you can get a better insight by seeing the show in America at Epcot

  13. Political debates are temporary, but history is enduring. The Hall of Presidents is not focused on current officeholders, but rather on illustrating the ongoing story of American leadership.

Reacting to short-term controversy by removing the exhibit risks amplifying divisive voices and undermining its educational purpose, which is to demonstrate that leadership may change, but the nation’s resilience remains constant.

Disney has maintained a neutral approach, simply honoring the office itself. Removing the exhibit at this time could be perceived as taking a political stance, which may lead to increased division rather than unity.

It is essential to consider the long-term value of this historic exhibit and avoid making impulsive decisions based on transient reactions. The attraction continues to serve its purpose of presenting the broader narrative of American history and leadership.

  14. Keep the Hall of Presidents! Maybe change the movie from time to time and more people may go. I was really bummed out to see it closed when I was there last.

  15. Great idea on the move to Muppets! Last time I went to the show all I heard were jeers and shouts of MAGA, which made the experience quite awful.
