Nearly one year ago, Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner spent the first days of the new year in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Nevada. The beloved Marvel actor had been run over by a large snowplow while he was trying to help a family member whose car was stuck in the snow. The accident crushed dozens of bones in Renner’s body. He was airlifted to a hospital, where he was listed in “critical but stable condition.”

The Avengers star has come a long way in just a year, and is ready to get back to work. Before his injury, he played the lead role in the hit Paramount+ original, The Mayor of Kingstown. And soon, he will be back as Mike McLusky — the man who acts as a liaison between the prisoners, the guards, and the criminals in the fictional city of Kingstown.
Actress Emma Laird — who plays Iris in Mayor of Kingstown — recently shared an Instagram story about getting ready to shoot season three of the hit show. Renner reshared Laird’s post, confirming that they were ready to shoot the season and that he would be back.

After his accident, Renner spent two weeks in the hospital, suffering from blunt-force trauma and more than thirty broken bones. Since then, Renner has had multiple surgeries and undergone intense physical therapy. And he has kept his fans updated along the way. He has frequently posted on his various social media accounts, even sharing pictures from his hospital bed.
In subsequent interviews, Renner has spoken about how lucky he feels to be alive, since the accident easily could have been fatal. He also said that his accident made him reevaluate his life and really focus on the things that are important to him, like his children.
In addition to being an incredible actor, Renner is also a devoted musician. Throughout his rehabilitation, he has kept his music close to his heart. On December 29, he even revealed that his new album Love & Titanium would be coming out on New Year’s Day.
