Save us Depp!
According to recent reports, the presales for the highly anticipated film The Marvels are currently looking quite dismal. The presale data is even putting The Marvels behind those of Black Adam and The Flash. Black Adam only reached a dismal $67 million in its opening weekend, and The Flash garnered only $55 million. Still, it appears that The Marvels is not quite even keeping up with these numbers.
More and more, it is looking like Disney is not able to secure a box office win. This terrifying pattern has meant fans, including myself, looking to previous successes as inspirations for Disney’s future.
How Can Disney Turn It Around?
The Marvels is part of the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), a franchise that has consistently demonstrated its ability to captivate and entertain audiences worldwide. With talented actors like Brie Larson, who portrays the iconic character of Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel, and the introduction of new characters like Kamala Khan, portrayed by Iman Vellani, The Marvels seems to have all the ingredients for success.
Despite all of these factors, The Marvels is looking to be a flop of catastrophic proportions from all angles. Just last summer, Greta Gerwig surpassed $1 billion at the box office for her female-led film Barbie, so why isn’t Disney able to do the same? Many fans feel that despite their efforts, Disney just isn’t able to connect to female audiences in the superhero genre.
Doesn’t surprise me, please let this be a wake up call for Disney. Give your female leads better movies!

The fact of the matter is that Marvel movies of this size and scale are not cheap to make, and Disney truly cannot afford to keep on having flops of this size. With seemingly nowhere to turn, fans wonder what Disney’s next move could be. However, fans of another popular franchise think they know the solution.
Why Johnny Depp Could Be Disney’s Miracle
Disney is planning to revisit and continue numerous major franchises in the next couple of years, including Frozen, Toy Story, and Zootopia. Fans also hope to see another franchise revived during this time: Pirates of the Caribbean.Â
The sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film has been in the works for quite a while, but no major development has happened for the past few years. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has become a cultural phenomenon, captivating audiences with its thrilling adventures, captivating storytelling, and memorable characters.
Throughout the previous films, Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow has become synonymous with the franchise’s success. His eccentricity, humor, and unpredictable nature brought an undeniable energy to the screen, making him a fan favorite and adding a unique dimension to the overall narrative.
Now, more than ever, Disney will need to rely on these pre-existing fanbases to boost their viewership. Who knows? Perhaps this latest flop is just the boost Disney needs to make this sequel final happen…
Yeah nothing says “Disney” like a guy who was proven guilty of beating his wife in a UK court of law
Good thing that didn’t happen then. Depp was never on trial there, and all that was “proven” in UK court was that The Sun (a notorious tabloid) was not guilty of libel in that instance. Their defense was “we thought it was true” which is nowhere near the same thing.
Well by the time Pirates 6 is made then released, Disney may be way under!! Something needs to happen now!!
