Fans are going to be stunned by this announcement.
Over the many decades that the Disney Parks have existed, change and evolution have been at the forefront of Disney’s mission. In order to keep the Parks entertaining and relevant, Walt Disney Imagineers have worked hard to bring new and exciting offerings to Guests of the Parks and Resorts. While this means Guests are constantly getting great new additions, it also means that fans have to say goodbye to iconic attractions and offerings of the past.
There are some attractions that stung the hearts of fans a little harder when Disney made the call to remove them from the Park. One of the attractions that fans were the most devastated to see leave the Parks was Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade.
A Disney Favorite Sadly Retired
The Main Street Electrical Parade was truly one of Disney’s most unique attractions. This parade happened at nighttime in the Disney Parks and was a spectacular example of Disney’s high-quality performances.
From 1972 until 1996, The Main Street Electrical Parade ran in Disneyland Park at Disneyland Resort. The parade then moved to Disney California Adventure Park in 2001, where it remained until 2010.
Due to its popularity, the Parade also began running at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. From 1977 until 2016, the parade happened in Magic Kingdom Park, only taking breaks from 1991 to 1999 and 2001 to 2010. A version of the Main Street Electrical Parade also made an appearance in Tokyo Disneyland, called the Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade: DreamLights.
Walt Disney famously had a passion for trains, so this parade really felt like a way to honor his legacy. The floats and performers of this parade truly lit up the night thanks to the 600,000 LED lights that Disney strategically placed on them.
Is a Comeback Imminent for MSEP?
Fans have been begging for Disney to bring back the Main Street Electrical Parade since it closed. In 2022, Disney answered that wish and brought the Parade back on April 20 as part of its 50th anniversary. On September 1, 2022, Disney held its last performance of the parade. Still, it has been heavily inferred that the Parade is not gone for good.
Now, it is looking like the concept of an electric parade is coming to a Park. Disneyland Paris has just revealed the concept art for their new nighttime spectacular titled Disney Symphony of Colors. The show, which is set to begin performances on January 8, 2024, will feature “an electric parade in the sky.”Â
This is massive news for fans of MSEP. According to Disney, the show will feature an entire segment about the Main Street Electrical Parade!

Seeing the Main Street Electrical Parade getting an in-air drone show in really incredible. It is wonderful to see Disney listening to the requests of fans and paying homage to such an iconic parade.
As good as this sounds, why not just bring back an electrical parade to Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Paris. Its been decades without any nighttime parade now in these parks. I love it when I was younger but my 3 daughters (eldest 13) have never been able to see any night time parade. Its such a shame.
