After 33 years with the same 11 pavilions, is Disney World finally gearing up to add a brand new country to EPCOT’s World Showcase?

If a group of volunteers from the Hellenic Electronics Center (HEC) have anything to do with it, the answer will be a resounding YES!
The group, who has pooled their efforts and their imaginations to rally support for a brand-new Greek pavilion at EPCOT’s World Showcase, believes that Greece would be the perfect addition to the Showcase especially when you consider the country’s rich history, breathtaking natural beauty, and amazing arts, entertainment and of course, food.
They believe it so much, in fact, that the HEC volunteers group has created an online petition for people to sign, and you don’t have to be Greek to do so. The online petition features a picture of Walt Disney next to his famous “If you can dream it, you can do it” quote.
“How is it that a country with Greece’s beauty, rich history, and innovation is not in the World Showcase?” the volunteers ask via the online petition.
At the time of publishing this post, the petition has more than 3,870 digital signatures from people in Australia, Malaysia, Canada, China, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Sweden, Israel, Germany, Italy, the United States, and of course, Greece.
(I didn’t see a Dallas, Texas, signature plus I think it’s a great idea, and I love the dedication the HEC group has, so I bumped the number to 3,877 signatures just before posting!)
The HEC’s campaign to get Greece on the World Showcase comes during a time of multiple changes in the Disney Parks, especially at EPCOT, which is on deck to get a new Mary Poppins-themed attraction at the United Kingdom pavilion, a completely reimagined take on what is now Future World, and the opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction in the France pavilion.
Anyone is welcome to add a signature to the petition online. If you’d like to see Greece on the World Showcase as well, you can sign the petition here.
