This really is one of Disney’s most adorable traditions!
Over the years, Disney has become home to numerous different races. Marathons, half-marathons, 10k races, and more have become a massive success as part of the RunDisney program. However, there is one race that genuinely beats them all.
The Disneyland Duck Race is one of the most hilarious and wholesome Park traditions. Held in Disneyland Park, this duck race brings joy and excitement to Disney fans and Cast Members.

Cutest Race Ever!
On July 7, 2023, hundreds of yellow rubber ducks prepared their sea legs in anticipation of the biggest race of their lives. Early in the morning, before the Parks opened to the public, Cast Members gathered at the “it’s a small world” attraction to watch the showdown begin. Just after 6 a.m., the race began in the iconic Disneyland Park attraction.
In preparation for the race, Cast Members decorated every duck in a unique way. Understandably, most of the ducks look like Disney characters. In addition to the race, the ducks are also entered into design competitions. Categories include “Most Like Donald Duck,” “Least Sea-Worthy,” “Most Creative,” and the “Superhero” category.
The Disneyland Duck races have been a tradition since 2008 when Cast Members of the Small World attraction started it. In 2011, the race expanded to include any Cast Member that was interested.Â
Ready… Set… GO!
At around 6 a.m., the race begins, and the hundreds of decorated ducks zoom through the attraction. The fastest of the bunch can finish the race in 15 minutes, while others don’t finish at all. Regardless, the experience is meant to be fun and wholesome for everyone involved.
Cast Members took the opportunity to post some of their creations on social media. This celebration is genuinely one of the most unique and adorable Disney traditions, and it is something that hopefully will continue to grow in the years to come.
