Iconic Disney Castle Shows Signs of Deterioration: “The Longer They Wait, the Worse It Gets”
Recently, photos depicted Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Paris showing notable wear and tear, and fans are distinctly unhappy.
A Disney Park visit is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many fans. From enjoying rides and attractions like Space Mountain at the Disney Parks to immersing oneself in the amazing lands like Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park and abroad at Walt Disney Studios Park, there’s certainly a lot to love.
This said, few attractions at a Disney theme park are as iconic as the castles, so it’s no surprise that fans are less than happy when one shows signs of wear and tear.

Photos Show Paint Problem of Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Paris
Recently, DLP Report took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share photos of the turrets of Sleeping Beauty Castle in Parc Disneyland in the Parisian Disney Park. The photos clearly show how the paint has faded and even chipped off in parts, reducing the quality of the castle’s look and feel.
Other fans shared more photos that showed how this wasn’t the only damage to the castle.
Another guest shared, “The other side isn’t much better. There are lots of little papers stuck on the walls and tiles,” followed by inquiring as to where these papers could have come from.

Many were frustrated with the fact that Disney reportedly has a plan to fix the castle but simply wasn’t acting on it or letting fans know when they’d be taking steps to rectify the situation. One commented, “Very unfortunate especially because a very renowned French restoration company was involved in the refurbishment. Good that they have a plan.”
However, some were more relaxed about it. One fan explained, “The plan is to completely remove existing paint as applying anything on chipping paint is not possible, so no big deal.”

While we don’t yet know when Disney is going to work on repainting Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Paris, we certainly hope it’s soon!
The castles are practically mascots for each Disney Park—think of how Cinderella Castle in Walt Disney World has become synonymous with The Walt Disney Company image—and having the primary representation of a Disney Park stay in a state of disrepair is an unfortunate state of events.
This said, Disney has a plan, and the company and theme park have to work according to their schedule. Here’s hoping we know more about the schedule soon!
