Hollywood Studios Brings Back Crucial ‘Star Wars’ Feature to $275 Experience

Building a lightsaber at Disney’s Hollywood Studios requires more than choosing whether you want to follow the light or dark side.

Guests also have to decide exactly what their $274.99 creation will look like. For several weeks, making that choice became a little more difficult at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

A physical guide that previously helped builders compare their options disappeared from Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers. Disney kept the experience running, and another way to view the available components remained, but guests temporarily lost one of their most convenient references.

That missing piece has now returned to Batuu.

Nearly $300 Buys More Than a Souvenir

Savi’s Workshop takes a different approach from a traditional merchandise location.

Instead of walking inside, choosing a lightsaber, and heading to the register, guests become part of an immersive Star Wars story.

Savi’s Gatherers welcome builders into a secret workshop hidden from the First Order. From there, guests choose components, select a kyber crystal, assemble a hilt, and eventually activate the lightsaber they created.

The experience currently costs $274.99 per lightsaber.

Customization plays a major role in the process. Guests first select one of four themes: Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature, or Protection and Defense.

Each theme comes with its own collection of parts, making that initial decision an important step in determining how the finished lightsaber will look.

That’s also why a recent disappearance stood out.

An Important Guide Returns After Weeks Away

According to WDW News Today, physical lightsaber parts menus are once again available at Savi’s Workshop after disappearing earlier in September.

The menus allow builders to look over the components associated with the four themes before making their selection.

Disney reportedly pulled the previous menus after they began cracking.

Their removal didn’t leave guests completely unable to see their options. Savi’s Workshop continued to display examples of its available “scrap metal” in drawers, giving visitors another way to inspect the components.

Still, the menus gave guests a convenient reference for comparing different designs.

The returning versions reportedly include some minor design changes. Cast Members have also indicated that the menus might not remain available for the entire operating day.

Even so, their return gives builders another tool when making an expensive decision.

The Price Makes Those Details More Important

Spending $274.99 on a lightsaber is a significant purchase for many Walt Disney World guests.

This is also an item many Star Wars fans will take home and keep long after leaving Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Some builders may walk into Savi’s Workshop already committed to a specific theme. Others may want to compare Peace and Justice with Protection and Defense, or examine the available components before making a choice.

Having the menus available makes that process easier.

It can also help guests make those decisions before the building ceremony moves deeper into its storytelling.

The component drawers served that purpose while the menus were gone, but restoring the physical guides gives guests another straightforward way to understand what they’re purchasing.

Meanwhile, Savi’s Workshop isn’t the only part of Batuu receiving attention.

Star Wars Fans Have More Reasons To Return

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run received a major addition in May 2026 with a new adventure featuring Din Djarin and Grogu.

The mission sends crews aboard the Millennium Falcon and can take them to locations including Bespin, Coruscant, and the wreckage of the second Death Star near Endor.

Disney also expanded the controls available to riders, giving crew members greater influence over the mission.

More additions are still ahead.

Disney has announced that Batuu Adventure Buddies will eventually make their way to Walt Disney World. Grogu, an Ewok, and a Huttlet make up the collection.

These interactive companions feature movement, sounds, touch responses, and interactive elements. Disney has not announced when they will arrive at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Galaxy’s Edge has also crossed into Fortnite.

Guests can connect an experience aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run with the “Smugglers Gambit” Fortnite Experience, bringing part of the Batuu adventure into the gaming world.

A Missing Piece Is Back on Batuu

Those larger additions continue expanding what guests can experience around Galaxy’s Edge, but Savi’s Workshop shows how smaller details can affect a visit, too.

Guests paying $274.99 are choosing individual components for a personalized lightsaber. Having an easy way to compare those options can help them feel more prepared before entering the building ceremony.

The drawers ensured builders could still examine the available pieces while the menus were missing. Now, the physical guides provide another option.

For an experience centered around personal choice, restoring that ability to easily review the available components makes the process more convenient.

After several weeks without them, the lightsaber parts menus are back at Savi’s Workshop.
