EPCOT Guest Defies “No Climbing” Sign, Scales Pyramid in Mexico

Another Walt Disney World Resort guest is under fire after climbing a restricted structure inside the EPCOT World Showcase Mexico Pavilion. Despite visible signage, the guest scaled the iconic Mayan pyramid, adding to a growing list of similar incidents that have frustrated Disney Parks fans and cast members alike.

People gather in front of a structure resembling a Mayan pyramid with steps leading to the top, located in a park or themed area. The sky is clear and blue, and trees surround the building.

The moment was captured on video and shared by Instagram user @disneygram2020. In the footage, a Disney Park guest silently points out the situation to two nearby custodial cast members. As they turn to look, a woman can be seen sitting several feet off the ground on the side of the Mayan-style structure, which forms the backdrop of the Mexico Pavilion in the EPCOT World Showcase.

Just a few feet from the guest sat a large “no climbing” sign, installed by Disney after repeated climbing incidents in recent years. The video continues with a man assisting the woman in climbing down. She laughs while ignoring instructions from the Disney cast members below.

Fortunately, the guest appears uninjured. Still, the behavior has raised concerns. Although Disney has not confirmed whether disciplinary action was taken, guests who engage in similar behavior have faced removal or even permanent bans from Walt Disney World Resort. Similar rule-breaking risks damaging park property and, more importantly, endangering guests and cast members.

This isn’t the first time the pyramid has drawn controversy. In past years, guests—adults and children—have been seen climbing the structure, often attempting to capture a photo or video. These incidents have sparked broader criticism, especially in light of EPCOT’s “Drinking Around the World” trend. Some fans say the atmosphere has changed dramatically and that intoxicated guests pose a growing safety concern.

Whether or not alcohol was a factor in this latest event remains unclear, but one thing is certain: Disney Parks rules are in place for a reason, and breaking them isn’t just dangerous—it can also lead to serious consequences.
