“Leave Britney alone!” The sentiment rang loud and clear across the internet almost 20 years ago when super-fan Cara Cunningham, formerly Chris Crocker, begged fans and media to stop harassing pop star, Britney Spears. The plea was in response to constant coverage portraying Spears negatively in light of what appeared to be a mental health episode during the year. You know-the one where she shaved her head. Since then, things haven’t changed much in the eyes of the public regarding one of the biggest pop stars ever.

The public has been privy to parts of Britney Spear’s life through a nasty divorce with Sam Asghari, custody issues with ex-Kevin Federline, and a conservatorship battle with her father, Jamie Spears. Parts that most would consider private. Even today, many videos around the internet poke fun at awkward Instagram and TikTok posts the former Disney Mouseketeer publishes. Since her rise to stardom, the Louisiana native has been through it all, and the media has ensured that each of us has had a bird’s eye view.
Much of what the public has seen regarding Spears is one-sided, and due to legal and other reasons, Spears has been mostly quiet regarding the public portrayal of her life. However, that time is over as Britney Spears has decided to put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard, and tell it all!
Spears recently announced that she has been working on a tell-all, much-anticipated memoir highlighting her successful defense of Jamie Spear’s fight for conservatorship over the former Disney star. Gallery Books recently acquired the rights to publish the memoir. Gallery Books Senior Vice President and Publisher detailed her hope that Britney’s story will highlight the bravery it took for Spears to undergo the grueling court battle against her father.
“Britney’s compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery,” said Jennifer Bergstrom of Gallery Books, “I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact — and will be the publishing event of the year. We couldn’t be more proud to help her share her story at last.” – People Magazine
Spears, now 41, successfully dissolved her father’s conservatorship in 2021 after issuing an emotional public testimony. Fans cheered and rooted for Spears as she underwent the difficult task of standing up to her father. It appears the former pop star is ready to give back by giving them the personal, and inside scoop of her feelings, strenght, and bravery.
