Fans Mourn Muppet*Vision 3D—Then Universal Adds Salt to the Wound
The world of theme park rivalry is about as colorful as it gets, and when Universal Orlando Resort decided to take a playful jab at Disney, fans were quick to take notice. This time, the trolling came after the permanent closure of Disney World’s beloved Muppet*Vision 3D attraction. With so much buzz surrounding the closing of the classic show, Universal wasted no time in seizing the moment for a little snark.

On June 7, 2025, Disney World guests gathered at Hollywood Studios to bid farewell to Muppet*Vision 3D, which had been a fan-favorite for many years. Disney’s decision to close the attraction and demolish Muppets Courtyard as part of a larger transformation plan — including new plans for a Monsters, Inc.(2001)-themed area — left fans disappointed.
While the attraction had never seen long lines, it had built a devoted following. Guests who had previously walked into the theater with little to no wait found themselves in a surprisingly long line that stretched all the way into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on its last day.

As news of the closure spread, many Disney fans took to social media to express their disappointment. Some even started petitions to keep the attraction alive, hoping Disney would reconsider. But despite the outpouring of love from the community, the closure was inevitable.
Yet, as the fans were still grieving the loss, Disney’s biggest competitor, Universal Orlando Resort, decided to have a little fun with the situation.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Universal couldn’t resist a cheeky remark at Disney’s expense. In a tweet that got everyone talking, Universal posted:
A salute to all theme parks, but mostly Universal.

The message, though simple, was a clear nod to Universal’s ongoing rivalry with Disney. The tweet played off of Sam Eagle from the Muppets, delivering a humorous and patriotic message, but with an unmistakable twist aimed at Disney’s recent loss. As expected, Universal’s snark did not go unnoticed.
Many fans reacted with a mix of amusement and disbelief, laughing at Universal’s audacity, while others voiced that it might have been in poor taste.
This wasn’t the first time Universal had poked fun at Disney. Previous digs have included a comment about Cinderella Castle and the tram situation at Disney World, where guests had to walk a greater distance due to the closure of the tram service after the pandemic.
Universal’s social media team certainly knows how to stoke the flames of rivalry with their sharp humor and timely posts.
But while the rivalry between the two theme park giants might be full of snarky moments, there’s no denying the shared passion for their fan bases. Whether you’re a Disney devotee or a Universal enthusiast, there’s no shortage of reasons to engage in the fun and games that come with this ongoing competition.

I wish the hand of God would take Disney out!! And let cows and wild life have it back !
Um, how was that a dig at Disney? That is one heck of a stretch to think so
What’s disappointing is the lack of thought. Muppets 3D is a cheap build, they could have moved it next to Rock&roller coaster, appease the loyalists while building new land. It would be right next to muppet retheme for roller coaster SMH..do I have to think of everything? Do better Disney
