When this beloved dark thrill ride hybrid debuted, it was nearly revolutionary in its cultural impact. The ride is full of animatronics, screens, and other special effects, making it one of the most immersive experiences in the Universal Park.
Now, the ride is nearly ten years old. Although that’s not an incredibly long time, it’s enough for wear and tear to occur, and fans are beginning to notice. One fan, in particular, took to social media to express how appreciated a refurbishment would be:

The Reddit post reads:
So this is something I’ve thought about for a while, but I don’t know if it’s ever possible: would there be a way for them to close down forbidden journey for a refurbishment to update the look of the attraction? Nothing with the queue at all. Just the ride.
I still think it’s a good ride but it’s looking outdated. It needs a new coat of paint in a way. I wouldn’t mind if they did what they did for Spider-Man and updated the technology that you see. They need to do a Reparo on the ride.

This attraction is easily one of the most beloved experiences in Universal’s Islands of Adventure, which is both a pro and a con in this circumstance. The positive is that a refurbishment would be greatly appreciated and could even become an event worth marketing, garnering more attendance.
The con is that attendance may drop while the attraction is being refurbished. But it may be a risk worth taking when it comes to a ride as popular as Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.
