It’s no secret that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is one of the most popular areas in Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park, so why wouldn’t they take any opportunity to expand?

It’s recently been confirmed that Islands of Adventure’s walk-through attraction, Poseidon’s Fury, will close on May 10, and fans are devastated.
Although this attraction was cheesy and outdated, it was a fan-favorite amongst Guests visiting Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park. So, understandably, many fans are wondering why this beloved attraction is closing. The attraction’s cult following aside, the situation is made even more puzzling when we take into account that Poseidon’s Fury was refurbished just one year ago.
As a result, many fans are wondering why Universal Orlando Resort would close the attraction so soon after refurbishments. Some rumors are saying it has to do with a certain expansion…
Looking at the official map of Universal’s Islands of Adventures, we can see that The Lost Continent (the area housing Poseidon’s Fury) is located right next to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade. The two themed areas are so close that the Hogwarts Express slightly overlaps with The Lost Continent.
So, it’s not too far-fetched to think that The Lost Continent could be losing its primary attraction so Universal can expand its Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade area. This could mean anything from another Harry Potter-themed dark ride to another roller coaster attraction.
Could another Harry Potter-themed attraction be coming? At this time, these are just rumors and speculation, and only time will tell the true reason for the closure of Poseidon’s Fury.
