Less than a week after Disney Dining first reported damage to the American Adventure World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT, Walt Disney World Resort is visibly moving to address the problem — though the repair work has also revealed additional issues that weren’t previously documented.
The Damage That Prompted the Response

The trouble began when Walt Disney World Resort removed the patriotic signage installed on the exterior of the American Adventure Pavilion for the Fourth of July weekend, celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. Pulling the decorations revealed significant damage to several of the building’s white columns — chipped paint, adhesive residue, and at least one metal anchor torn out during removal, leaving an exposed hole in the column material beneath.
The damage was compounded inside the building as well, where the removal of the Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors exhibit — which featured paintings of military veterans by former President George W. Bush — left areas of the interior walls requiring paint patching.
Construction Moves In

WDWNT reported on July 14 that Walt Disney World Resort had covered the four most visibly damaged columns with white refurbishment boxes — a standard way of protecting an active repair area from guest view while work continues. The boxes don’t conceal everything, though. Damage is still visible beneath the “Liberty Theatre” sign, suggesting the repair work is still in its early stages.
Inside the building, Walt Disney World Resort also appears to be actively patching paint in the areas affected by the exhibit removal.
As previously reported, Walt Disney World Resort filed a construction permit for the American Adventure Pavilion last week, listing Tecta America Corp. as the third-party contractor. The company primarily operates as a commercial roofing contractor but also handles architectural metals and waterproofing work.

Walt Disney World Resort has not commented publicly on the construction. The American Adventure show and Voices of Liberty performances are continuing without disruption throughout the repair work.
