EPCOT’s American Adventure Area Falls Into Disrepair, Damage Photographed

The patriotic decorations installed across Walt Disney World Resort for the Fourth of July weekend have begun coming down. In the American Adventure World Showcase Pavilion, the removal process has left some unwelcome marks on one of EPCOT‘s most iconic facades.

What the Decorations Left Behind

On Wednesday, WDWNT reported that Walt Disney World Resort had begun removing the red, white, and blue bunting and patriotic signage installed on the American Adventure Pavilion for the 250th anniversary Independence Day celebrations. What came off with the decor was more than just seasonal color.

The outlet shared photos documenting visible damage to the tall white columns at the front of the main American Adventure building — the structure that houses the audio-animatronic show and serves as the performance space for the Voices of Liberty. The damage appears to have been caused directly by the brackets used to mount the patriotic signage on the columns.

At least one metal bracket appears to have broken during removal, leaving a hole in the column where it was anchored. Others remain lodged in the white columns, yet to be extracted. Sticky adhesive lines mark the contact points where signs were attached, and sections of paint clearly pulled away from the columns when the decorations were removed.

A Permit Suggests a Repair Is Coming

The same day the damage was photographed, Walt Disney World Resort filed a Notice of Commencement for “general construction” at 1776 Avenue of the Stars — the approximate address of the American Adventure World Showcase Pavilion. The permit names Tecta America Corp./Tecta America SE as the contractor for the project.

Tecta America describes itself on its official website as “America’s top commercial roofing contractors,” though the company also offers waterproofing solutions and architectural metalwork — services that could plausibly apply to the column damage now visible on the pavilion facade.

Walt Disney World Resort has not confirmed whether the filing is connected to the post-holiday damage, nor has it addressed the column damage publicly.
