As per recent reports on social media, Disneyland Resort is offering emergency discounts to assist any cast members displaced by the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles County.
The blazes, including the Eaton, Lidia, Hurst, Palisades, Woodley, and Sunset Fires, have destroyed thousands of homes and structures and killed at least five people. As the fires rage, communities throughout Los Angeles are facing massive disruptions, with authorities warning of spot fires and rapid expansion due to low humidity and shifting winds.
The Palisades Fire, currently the largest in the region, spans over 17,000 acres and is reported to be 0% contained at the time of writing, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
Several major attractions in Southern California have temporarily closed their doors. Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal CityWalk, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Warner Bros. Studio Tour, and the Los Angeles Zoo are just a few of the venues currently shut down due to the fires.
While Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk were initially set to reopen today, it’s since extended its closure as the fires continue.
Disneyland Resort Offers Support to Affected Employees
Disneyland Resort, located in Anaheim, remains open with both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park operating as usual. However, some of its cast members live in the areas affected by the fires, making their commutes difficult and forcing some to evacuate their homes.
In response to this, Disneyland Resort is reportedly offering emergency rates at the Disneyland Hotel to affected employees.
Social media reports from cast members suggest that the discounted rates are available for those displaced by the fires, though availability is limited. Employees are advised to call ahead to confirm their booking.
Although Disneyland Resort has yet to respond to requests for comment, this initiative is not the first time Disney has stepped in to help during a natural disaster. In 2023, Walt Disney World Resort offered a 50% discount on hotel stays to those affected by Hurricane Idalia, including evacuees and first responders.
