Disneyland Removes All Mac and Cheese From Menus With Immediate Effect

Disney has made a polarizing move this week by removing mac and cheese from menus across Disneyland Resort.

The move follows Disney’s partnership with Kraft Heinz – announced in July as a multi-year deal spanning Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Disney Cruise Line. Ten Kraft Heinz brands are involved, including Heinz, Philadelphia, and Kraft Mac & Cheese.

It’s the inclusion of the latter that has sparked controversy at Disneyland, where all existing mac and cheese products have been removed from the theme park’s menus.

Disney Swaps Out Mac and Cheese at Theme Parks

Walt Disney’s original theme park destination no longer serves its own mac and cheese, but instead exclusively offers Kraft Mac & Cheese.

That includes the iconic Mac & Cheese Cones at Cozy Cone Motel in Cars Land, plus the bread bowls currently found at Disneyland Park.

Disney is also introducing several varieties of Kraft Mac & Cheese, including Deluxe and White Cheddar, depending on which version best fits each existing dish. The change will eventually extend beyond Disneyland, with Kraft Mac & Cheese also set to roll out at Walt Disney World and aboard Disney Cruise Line.

Philadelphia Cream Cheese will also replace the cream cheese currently used across the resort, both in recipes and as a standalone spread for items such as bagels. Disney is updating physical menus too, with references to dishes “featuring” Kraft, Heinz, and Philadelphia products.

Currently, online menus for the likes of Cozy Cone Motel do not mention Kraft.

Fans React to Mac & Cheese Changes

Fans aren’t exactly enthused about the changes.

“Oh geez, Kraft is what made me hate Mac & Cheese, that sucks,” wrote one X user.

One wrote: “Sometimes I think about how [years] ago I emailed Kraft to find out if they use animal-based enzymes in their [mac and cheese]. They told me they can’t tell me anything [because] they use ‘secret ingredients.’ Have not eaten it for almost 10 years [because] of this. Extremely disappointing choice here.”

As previewed at D23, Heinz products are beginning to roll out to the Disney Parks. Edelweiss Snacks has already been switched over, with other locations (such as Red Rose Taverne) to follow in the coming days.

Others pointed out that the quality of Kraft Mac & Cheese doesn’t exactly align with some of Disney’s higher-end restaurants.

“Imagine going to like Yachtsman and they feed you Kraft Mac & Cheese with your steak,” one X user wrote, referring to the Yachtsman Steakhouse – currently closed for refurbishment – at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

The move follows the recent introduction of Heinz condiment dispensers at restaurants in Disneyland Resort, including Smokejumpers Grill at California Adventure and Edelweiss Snacks at Disneyland Park.

What do you think of Disney’s decision to integrate Kraft Mac & Cheese into its theme parks?
