Disney World Slammed With 8th Incident in July: High-Paying Guests Evacuated at 2 A.M.
Most Disney World vacations come and go without any major disruptions, but July has been anything but ordinary. Over the past month, guests have experienced numerous evacuations across the resort, affecting everything from attractions and transportation to deluxe hotels and Disney Springs.
Now, another location has joined that list.
An overnight evacuation at Disney’s Contemporary Resort has become the eighth reported evacuation tied to Walt Disney World this month. Guests staying at the deluxe hotel said they were awakened around 2 a.m. by an emergency announcement directing them outside. Although the interruption was brief, it capped off an unusually active month for emergency responses throughout the resort.
Here’s a look back at the reported incidents leading up to the latest evacuation.
Wilderness Lodge Started the Month
The first reported evacuation happened on July 1 at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
Guests temporarily left the deluxe resort after an unidentified emergency prompted Cast Members to clear the building. Disney never publicly explained what caused the incident, but visitors later reported being allowed back inside after the resort was deemed safe.
That early-morning disruption turned out to be only the beginning.
A Fire Interrupted “it’s a small world”
Later that same day, another evacuation took place inside Magic Kingdom.
Guest reports said a portable phone charger caught fire near the loading area for “it’s a small world,” leading Cast Members to evacuate the attraction while they responded. Videos shared online appeared to show emergency personnel arriving as guests exited the ride.
Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, and operations eventually returned to normal after the situation was handled.
The next reported evacuation would happen well away from the parks.
Smoke Forces Disney Bus Evacuation
On July 20, passengers aboard a Walt Disney World bus were asked to evacuate after smoke was seen coming from the vehicle.
Photos posted online showed smoke surrounding the bus while emergency responders arrived. Guests exited safely, and Disney later removed the vehicle while crews addressed the situation.
Only a few days later, attention shifted back to Disney’s resort hotels.
Fire Alarm Clears Yacht Club
Another evacuation occurred on July 24 at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.
A fire alarm prompted guests and Cast Members to leave the deluxe hotel while emergency procedures were carried out. After responders cleared the building, guests were allowed to return inside.
That wasn’t the only resort affected that day.
Beach Club Also Evacuated
Shortly after the Yacht Club incident, Disney’s Beach Club Resort also experienced a separate fire alarm.
Although the neighboring hotels share several amenities, reports indicated this was a separate evacuation. Like the earlier incident, guests returned once emergency procedures were completed and the building was cleared.
The next emergency response involved Disney transportation once again.
Monorail Evacuation Follows Medical Emergency
On July 27, the Walt Disney World Monorail was evacuated after a service animal reportedly experienced a medical emergency aboard the train.
Guests exited the Monorail while Cast Members and emergency personnel responded. Reports later stated that the animal died following the incident.
It marked another unusual evacuation during an already busy month.
Disney Springs Restaurant Emptied
The list continued to grow on July 29, when Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs was evacuated after a fire alarm sounded.
Guests and employees gathered outside while the restaurant was cleared. According to those at the scene, the interruption was relatively brief before everyone was allowed back inside and operations resumed.
Just days later, another deluxe resort experienced a similar situation.
Contemporary Guests Wake Up to Overnight Evacuation
The most recent reported evacuation occurred overnight at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Guests posting on TikTok said an announcement warned of a “fire emergency reported in the building,” prompting people to go outside around 2 a.m. Videos showed groups of guests waiting outside while emergency procedures unfolded.
According to those guests, the wait didn’t last very long. Cast Members eventually told everyone they could return to their rooms after the situation was resolved.
Disney has not publicly commented on what caused the emergency announcement.

An Unusually Busy July
Evacuations occasionally occur at Walt Disney World as part of routine safety procedures, whether triggered by alarms, ride issues, transportation problems, or other emergencies.
Still, eight reported evacuations spread across hotels, attractions, transportation, and Disney Springs in a single month stand out. While each incident had different circumstances, they all ended the same way: guests safely returned once officials determined it was appropriate to resume normal operations.
