Walt Disney World Resort is removing a popular EPCOT attraction permanently.

Known as “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” Disney World is home to four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Each theme park includes something for Guests of all ages to enjoy.
EPCOT is a theme park that showcases the technological achievements of the world. The Disney Park is divided into four major neighborhoods: World Celebration, World Nature, World Discovery, and the World Showcase. EPCOT’s World Showcase is a themed area within EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort that features 11 pavilions that represent different countries from around the world, each with its own unique architecture, landscaping, and cultural elements. The 11 pavilions are: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, The American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom, and Canada.

As part of the growing nature of EPCOT, it should come as no surprise that Disney World Guests have to say goodbye to attractions at certain points. The last two major closures to happen inside the Disney Park include The Universe of Energy, which closed to make way for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and Maelstrom, which closed to make way for Frozen Ever After.
Now, Disney World Guests will have to say goodbye to EPCOT Harmonious. The controversial nighttime spectacular featured effects on barges in the theme park’s lagoon, as well as stunning fireworks. Still, many fans said they weren’t fans of the barges. If you fall into this category, you’ll be happy to know Disney’s plans for the attraction moving forward.
Disney reportedly plans to demolish the barges to make way for the returning show, EPCOT Forever.
Twitter account @bioreconstruct recently got a final aerial photo of the Harmonious barges before they are removed. Cranes have been spotted in the area and the expectation is that these barges will be removed soon.

The good news is that Guests won’t have to wait long for EPCOT Forever to take over the theme park, as it will begin its performances immediately, starting April 3, 2023, at 9:00 p.m. every night.
