When you think of setting sail on a Disney Cruise, you may think of things like delicious and one-of-a-kind dining experiences, Broadway-caliber shows, exciting character interactions, and having a blast a Castaway Cay — Disney’s very own private island. What you may not think of is being stuck at your departure port because of a tugboat strike. However, that is exactly what happened to Guests aboard the Disney Wonder that was scheduled to leave from Vancouver, but the Guests aboard didn’t seem to mind.

According to multiple news outlets, there is currently a tugboat strike happening in Vancouver, which already caused on Celebrity Cruise ship to be delayed. According to the reports, the tugboats block the ships from leaving the ports, which has now apparently happened to the Disney Wonder. The tugboat workers went on strike when contract negotiations came to a standstill. There is no word on if negotiations are continuing and if the strike will continue until contracts are settled.

Reporter Brooke Geiger McDonald was aboard the ship when the delayed departure was announced and noted that the passengers barely noticed.

An announcement from the captain stated that Disney Wonder’s departure from Vancouver has been delayed due to a local tugboat strike but no one onboard is bothered by the delay. #disneycruiseline

The Disney Wonder offers a variety of cruises — from 3-night trips to the Bahamas to more elaborate 9-day Alaskan voyages. Cruise passengers can also board the Disney Wonder to travel to beautiful locations like the Pacific Coast and the Mexican Riviera.

Those who travel during the Halloween season can select certain cruises that celebrate Halloween on the High Seas. During those cruises, the characters aboard the ship will be dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes. There will also be fun, themed parties, as well as specialty food and beverages that are only served during the spookiest time of the year.
