Disney fans grew up watching Skai Jackson in her most recognizable role as Zuri Ross on Disney Channel‘s sitcom series Jessie and its spinoff series Bunk’d. Jessie ran for four seasons from 2011 to 2015 and starred Debbie Ryan, with Jackson’s Zuri as one of the quirky children in need of a live-in nanny. Bunk’d is seven seasons in and still going. Now 21, Jackson is active on social media, especially TikTok, where she is suddenly getting some heat for a “giveaway” she organized over the platform.
Skai Jackson set up a raffle on TikTok where she would give away an Apple MacBook laptop to the winner. In order to enter the competition, fans had to send her five dollars. Social media wasted no time in dragging the Disney actress for what they felt was a scammy move. Most people felt it was pretty shady for a celebrity to ask for money at all in a supposed giveaway. It lead to assumptions that the actress is in need of money.
In TikTok live response to the backlash, Jackson says,
It is not that serious for a damn $5. It is called a raffle. I don’t know if you guys have been to school before, but I know I’ve been to school, and we used to have raffles all the time. You might put in $5, $2, whatever, and you get a prize…The money goes towards the prize, and then, like I said, if there’s anything left over, I’m doing a second giveaway soon.
I do not need money. Me personally, I do not need money. And I’m not saying this in a bragging way, or anything like that, or in a mean way. I’m just letting you guys know I do not personally need money. Like, I’m very fine in my life. I don’t need money.
See her odd TikTok live here where she speaks about it as filters pop in and out over her image.

It’s safe to say that fans were not convinced. Apparently, Skai Jackson has a reputation for not being the easiest or most trustworthy person to work with. Here are some tweets showing the internet’s lack of sympathy.
