As we speed towards peak festive season, one Disney park is actually cutting its festive nighttime entertainment for nearly two weeks, starting Thursday.
While Disney parks are magical year-round, the holiday season takes the enchantment to another level. Each Disney resort celebrates Christmas in its unique style, with festivities creeping in as early as November 1 every year.
Last week, Disneyland Paris took the cake for a festive atmosphere after heavy snowfall transformed both of its parks into a winter wonderland. While the snow has long since melted, Disneyland Paris is still embracing the holiday season – even if it is about to axe one of its festive shows for 10 days.
Disney Park Cancels Christmas Show
Disneyland Paris is cutting its Christmas nighttime show for 10 days, from December 5 to December 14, 2024.
The Disney Electrical Sky Parade, a nightly drone show inspired by the Main Street Electrical Parade, is usually a non-holiday affair but has been given a festive update for 2024.
Featuring synchronized drones, video projections, lights, and fountains, the show typically precedes Disney Illuminations and steps in for the grand holiday fireworks, Disney Dreams of Christmas, which has been absent since 2022.
Christmas Show Replacement Unveiled
During the blackout period, Disneyland Paris will instead showcase a new limited-edition show, Disney loves Notre-Dame de Paris. This production celebrates the iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral, which has been undergoing a massive restoration since a fire nearly destroyed it in 2019.
The church officially reopens on December 7 and 8, marking the completion of a complex (and expensive) restoration, to which The Walt Disney Company personally donated $5 million. The show will be inspired by Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (1996), based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel.
Despite the cancellation of the festive Disney Electrical Sky Parade, there’s still plenty of holiday magic to experience at Disneyland Paris.
Guests can enjoy Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade twice daily, the Magical Christmas Tree Lighting, and the “Let’s Sing Christmas!” musical show. Both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park also feature winter markets, or Les Chalets Gourmands, bringing extra seasonal cheer.
