Disneyland Resort fans got their first peek at this year’s holiday offerings during Wednesday night’s cast member preview of A Christmas Fantasy Parade. While Disney Park guests were eager to kick off the season, some immediately noticed that this year’s holiday magic was missing a few familiar touches.

Since its debut in 1995, A Christmas Fantasy Parade has brought seasonal cheer to Disneyland Park with festive floats, classic characters, and iconic holiday music. The parade has evolved over the years, adding and retiring characters from films like The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) and Aladdin (1992) and once even featuring children as Santa’s elves. But this year, Disney Park guests noticed that a few longtime favorites were no longer part of the celebration.

According to Redditor u/TheDisneyScoopGuy, who shared a screenshot from Instagram user @finding_denny, Disneyland Resort has “basically got rid of a bunch of the book floats and got rid of the Toy Story float that had the green army men.” Although reports indicate that Mike and Sulley from Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. (2001) were added to the lineup, many other beloved floats were nowhere to be seen.

The changes didn’t go unnoticed by longtime Disney Parks fans, who quickly expressed their disappointment. Many took to social media to share their reactions, pointing to these cuts as a sign of broader shifts in Disneyland Resort’s entertainment offerings.

“Yikes. I hope the higher ups fork up the money to pay these performers better sooner than later,” said Redditor u/Secret_Awareness3040. “Entertainment is taking a downward turn at the resort lately. A hopeful side of me wishes for the park to shape up in time for next July (70th anniversary).”

“Pretty soon it will be the Christmas fantasy cavalcade… Mickey, Santa and Frozone will walk down Main Street with an 8-count of choreo,” joked u/dahk14.

Some fans went as far as to call the move part of a disappointing trend toward higher prices and reduced offerings, with u/RockNRoll85 remarking, “Always finding ways to cut corners yet they keep raising ticket & [Magic Key] pass prices.”

If you can’t make it to the parade this year, TikTok user @nattybabe shared a few preview clips of the revamped A Christmas Fantasy Parade:

We stopped visiting Disneyland a while ago, when it became clear all they wanted from the patron relationship was our money. It was so heart-rending to witness the place change.
