Disney Once Again Suspends Magic Key Sales — After Less Than 48 Hours

On November 16, Disney officials announced that Disneyland Resort would begin selling the coveted Magic Keys again, effective immediately. Magic Keys were introduced in August 2021, after the old Annual Pass Program ended in January 2021. Disneyland’s Magic Keys were so popular when they went on sale that Disney suspended sales after just three months. Since last November, those who love visiting The Happiest Place on Earth have waited for Disney to resume sales of the beloved Keys.

Finally, after one year, Disneyland brought back almost all the Magic Keys — except the Enchant Key. Guests flocked to the Disneyland Resort website and waited more than 5 hours to be able to purchase their Key. Unfortunately, in less than 48 hours, Magic Keys were once again only available for renewal, and sales were suspended.

Those who try to purchase a Magic Key through the Disneyland Resort website receive the following message:

The Queue Has Closed

Due to the incredible popularity of our Magic Key program, we have stopped sales of new passes at this time to help protect the experience for Magic Key holders and the value those passes provide. Renewals for current Magic Key holders within their renewal window (up to 30 days before pass expiration) will continue for all available pass types (Inspire, Believe, Enchant and Imagine) at this time.

Early in the day on November 17, Disney announced the Believe Key — the second highest tiered Key — sold out. Then Disney shared that the Imagine Key was also sold out and only the Inspire Key (formerly the Dream Key) remained. Finally, in the evening of the 17th, the queue closed and sales were suspended. Disney has not said when Magic Key sales will resume.

Walt Disney World Annual Pass sales are also suspended at this time, except for the lowest-tiered Pixie Dust Pass. Walt Disney World officials have said that Annual Pass sales will resume soon, but it won’t most likely happen until sometime next year. Annual Pass renewals are available at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, but must be done within a certain window.
