For more than one year, the gates of Disneyland Resort remained closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During that time, Disney announced that it would be ending the popular Annual Pass Program and would institute a new program later in the year. The theme parks reopened in April 2021 and then, in August 2021, Disneyland launched its new Magic Key Pass Program. Magic Keys were incredibly popular — Disneyland is known as a local’s Park — and Guests waited online for hours to be able to purchase theirs.

When they went on sale, there were four Magic Keys available — the Dream Key, the Enchant Key, the Believe Key, and the Imagine Key. Disneyland Magic Keys were only on sale for a few months before Disney announced that they were pausing sales, as so many Magic Keys had been sold. Disneylanders were shocked to see the pause, as Disney had always had a large amount of Annual Pass Holders. Before the shutdown, it was estimated that there were more than one million Passholders.

Well, after a year of paused sales, it has been announced that Disneyland will resume sales of SELECT Magic Keys beginning November 16. News of the sales was shared by theme park reporter Scott Gustin:

NEW: Disneyland will resume new sales of select Magic Key annual passes TODAY. The Inspire ($1599), Believe ($1099), and Imagine ($449 – SoCal only) passes will resume new sales *no earlier than 9 a.m. PT Wednesday.* The Enchant Key ($699) remains unavailable for new sales.

Guests who have partially used — and not expired — Disneyland tickets will also be able to upgrade in a whole new way. It is important to note that the mobile upgrade will only apply to partially used tickets. Unused tickets need to be upgraded at the ticket booth.

NEW: If you have a partially used ticket (not expired) eligible to be upgraded to a Magic Key, you can now upgrade in the Disneyland app. This new feature was enabled today but requires an app update. Unused tickets can be upgraded – but must be done at ticket booth.

At this time, Disney has not said how long the Magic Keys will be available for purchase. Disneyland officials shared a statement with KTLA about how excited they were to bring back Magic Key sales.

“With an incredible year ahead, we’re happy to open new sales for select Magic Key passes in time for holiday giving and to create opportunities for guests to treat themselves and their families to a year full of experiences during the upcoming Disney100 celebration”

The Walt Disney Company will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and the celebration will kick off at Disneyland Resort on January 27, with two new nighttime spectaculars, special food, merchandise, and more!
