Magic is what makes the Disney Parks so unique. Part of this magic comes when guests can meet their favorite Disney character. From meeting Mickey Mouse himself to meeting the newest character like Asha from Wish (2023), these meet and greets are an essential part of the magic at Disney Parks worldwide.

Meet and Greets at Disney Parks

There are different ways that guests can enjoy meet and greets at Disney Parks. Even though they are slightly different depending on which Disney Park you visit, they are all unique.

Walt Disney World

At Walt Disney World, guests typically meet characters through “traditional” meet and greets. During these meet and greets, guests typically wait in line to experience a 1:1 experience with that specific character.

This more traditional interaction allows guests to get hugs, take pictures, and get autographs with these characters. Guess can plan these experiences by planning to visit the meet and greet areas, such as seeing Mickey Mouse at the Tony Square Theatre in Magic Kingdom or Chewbacca and BB-8 in Disney’s Hollywood Studio’s Star Wars Launch Bay.

Although we have started to see some more characters walking around, such as Stitch in Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World, this Disney Park focuses on meet and greets that are more structured and planned.

When visiting Disneyland, guests can experience interactions with characters more relaxed and informally. Often, in Disneyland, characters are seen walking around. Although guests can often get pictures with these characters, they won’t sign autographs.

What is fun about this is that Disney often brings unique characters for guests to meet. Characters like Loki, Ahsoka, and even Asha from the newest Disney film show up in Disneyland, as Disney is more likely to bring new characters to their West Coast park.

Like Walt Disney World, guests can find traditional meet and greets at Disneyland. Princesses such as Cinderella, Belle, and Rapunzel are found at Princess Royal Hall throughout the day.

These meet and greets are unique, and even though the experiences are slightly different at each Disney Park, they all provide the magic.

Newest Adorable Meet and Greet

Just this week, Disney brought a brand-new character meet and greet to guests, which is to be noticed. Mossie is a cute baby troll that guests can now interact with during their visit to the World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland.

Mossie became the surprise star during the grand opening of this new land. This adorable baby troll took social media by storm, even with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Oaken in the area.

Hong Kong Disneyland celebrated the opening of World of Frozen, which will open its gates to guests on November 20, 2023. Mossie is all about learning about where people are fun. Meet and greets with Mossie include lots of questions, photos, and magic.

The Arendelle Forest near Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs is where Mossie and her “Nari” or teacher, can be found in the new land.

Although we are saddened that Mossie is only hanging out in World of Frozen, we are thrilled that Disney is bringing these new experiences to the parks. We hope similar experiences will also start to show up in Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
